This may be a bit of a rant but here’s my perspective: The product XTEINK are busy selling is a small e-ink screen, not a book reader. The device is really cool because it’s minimalistic and pocketable but in order to be a book reader it lacks: decent epub rendering capability: it improved recently

ereader - samsung galaxy note 4, great phone, even better at reading books. get a proper ereader. There are plenty decent non-kindle variants around. If you want a small, super simple one, checkout the xteink X4. It's also very affordable. Your eyes will thank you.

I hope the XTeink team has reached out to you, because your converter is genuinely game changing for their efforts to break into the international market. They would do well to recognize it and support development of this tool. (If they’re reading this: you should send this person an X3 to help them

Not sure why people rave about the Xteink X4. It's an interesting enthusiast's device, but it doesn't even have a frontlight. I wouldn't recommend it as Baby's First E-Reader. Clara BW is a really great choice for the price. You can get a GlowLight 4 used for a really great price, but you have to tw

Seconding the posts suggesting looking at second-hand readers - e-readers have fragile screens but otherwise it’s tech that holds up well, so a second-hand Kindle or Kobo or PocketBook that is in a decent shape (the screen is intact) will be fine for this purpose. Even very old ones (15 years old) s

The FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH and Piracy subs have megathreads where you can find websites to get ebooks from. I suggest you check those out. From what I've seen, colored e-readers aren't recommended since they have a poorer tech quality. Complaints of text being less sharp and more blurry compared to non c

I love my xteink X4 but I’d not recommend it for a first e-reader. The initial experience of setting it up is not… the smoothest. But it does have an awesome screen

Welcome to the world of eReaders! It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, but a great one. To give you some context, I’ve been building a community hub for Xteink users (inspired by the 'slow tech' and community vibes of places like readme.club), so here’s the breakdown based on what we’ve gathered so far: 1.

Can you read books on the X4 via Onleihe (the German system for library books)? If you mean your local library's ebook lending system (German or otherwise), the answer's almost certainly NO. For that to happen, someone who knows the inner workings of the library system needs to write custom firmware

I read lots of manga last year does that count 😂 (highly recommend “Frieren”, “Witch Hat Atelier”, “Hakumei & Mikoch“. Basic b manga recs but IMHO these manga are, as the youth say, goated) Aside from that I probably read 3 books last year (if that) and one was just listening to the audiobook of The
