The most common recommendation is the one that Costco has sold for years, the Winix C545. They put it on sale for $100 multiple times per year and sell the replacement filters for cheap. I have it and it’s great. Quiet, has smartphone controls, looks nice, etc.

Winix America has the C545 refurbished $59.99. I've purchased these, they always come with new sealed filters and are like new. Never had a single one I'd say looked used. I got the Winix C545, it's inexpensive and does a great job with it's 3 filter system. I bought them refurbished off of the Winix website. Definitely worth it for $99 a pop.

Winix sells C545 models refurbished on their website for like $70 but it seems they use cheap bearings for the motor and they go bad in roughly 1-2 years. If you're handy they seem fairly easy to replace but it involves a little soldering.
