The most common recommendation is the one that Costco has sold for years, the Winix C545. They put it on sale for $100 multiple times per year and sell the replacement filters for cheap. I have it and it’s great. Quiet, has smartphone controls, looks nice, etc.

I purchased a used one once online because mine had died and I had a bunch of replacement filters. (It had been discontinued and I couldn't get a new one) It came caked in nicotine inside and out. I can 2nd this. I actually went through 11 units (purchased 5...rest were warranty units) and all failed. I still have 1 unopened replacement unit and can't be bothered to set it up. I replaced all of mine with refurbished Winix C545 units over 2 years ago and couldn't be happier with that decision.

Winix America has the C545 refurbished $59.99. I've purchased these, they always come with new sealed filters and are like new. Never had a single one I'd say looked used. My Winix C545 units turn yellow when my cats take a mega dump (unit located next to a litter box) or red when my neighbor starts smoking (unit located near door). i did a TON of research a couple days ago about this. i settled on a used/refurbished winix c545 for $60, but the filters are lowk kind of expensive. they sell them in a pack with 4 carbon filters for odors that you switch every 3 months for odors and a filter that lasts a year for $50, which isn’t

I got the Winix C545, it's inexpensive and does a great job with it's 3 filter system. I bought them refurbished off of the Winix website. Definitely worth it for $99 a pop.

I didn't make the point in this thread, but on another - I'm not sure why anyone is comparing retail priced units against a CR-style DIY box. C535 from Winix, new, at costco is on sale periodically for $99.Another that sold out is the C545 for $69.99 at Winix direct, which just sold out last week. F

winix air purifier aren’t known for being quiet, but they’re affordable for the performance, the c545 is rated for 363sqft, more than enough for ur room. But if u want it to be even more quieter u can oversized the unit for the room and run it at a lower speed, the winix c909 at costco(no membership
