Planned to build my own Steam Machine

Also, just would like to point out that the Samsung drive would have been overkill for starters just because a Gen5 x2 drive would perform just like a Gen4 x4 drive not to mention for a gaming device it would be pretty much overkill just because modern games on average would only read/write at rough

[Build Help] 2026 Unraid Server Build: Intel Core Ultra 5 + SAS Storage

The Ultra 5 is fine, but it’s not a value play. A Ryzen 5600 + B550 board would be cheaper, cooler, and more NAS‑appropriate.... the ASRock B860 is fine for gaming but for a NAS you may see some m.2 thermal issues if you don't add a heatsink to your nvmes. RAM, cheap is well cheap stick to Crucial o

Which SSDs are most reliable to buy for a laptop?

In my opinion: Samsung consumer NVMe drives have been acting weird the last few years, random read‑only mode, firmware bugs, and no updates until it’s too late. If you want something that doesn’t pull that stunt, go with Crucial MX500 for SATA or Crucial P3/P5 Plus for NVMe. They’re boring, reliable

A streaming/editing , gaming pc with around 2500 usd budget , max being 3k

This is the GPU era for RAM and SSD's where AI companies use bots to buy everything. There are other SSD's with TLC flash memory for a little bit less but it's not Samsung or Western Digital quality, even the WD Blue SN580 1TB that is supposed to be the more affordable option is now close to a $90 s

Connectivity Issue with my external storage device.

That'd weird. I have WD Blue SN580 1tb SSD with hyperdrive enclosure, never had any issues with that. If you can, try with different enclosure.

Looking for affordable SSD

Samsung 990 Evo Plus is solid but check out the Crucial MX4 or WD Blue SN580 too - might save you some cash and they're reliable as hell for your use case.

NVME issues

I'd suggest you try with different nvme enclosure. I've never had any issues with my external drive. Maybe your drive is too slow, or your enclosure. I have Hyperdrive Next USB4 enclosure with WD Blue SN580.
