11 years ago today Valve released a demonstration of what would become the Steam Controller
While the finished product was different than what is in the video, it was an amazing change from what standard controllers were at the time. Back buttons. Duel stage triggers. Touch pads!? Plus the ability to modify the controller to do damn near anything you want with key combos, and action sets..

why does steam "invent" this new controller when old one feels comfortable
The Original Steam Controller (TOSC) is not made anymore. Speculation of discontinuation ranges from low sales to legal issues (buttons). Users have been asking for a "Steam Controller 2". Steam Deck controls had positive feedback. Users started asking for a "Steam Controller 2" like the steam deck.

A game this slow without controller support is crazy
They're really nice for non-gaming tbh, but there are some types of games that work really well with the touchpads. They have fully customizable controls, and in Steam you can even customize controller layouts per game/program. I tend to stay away from any fast-paced games that require precise mouse

What do you want to see in the Alpakka controller 2.0?
I find them more comfortable then the joystick for movement, since I just rest my thumb on the surface as opposed to having resistance against my thumb the way a joystick does when you push up. And the surface is large enough I can set a sprint on the very edge and not accidentally trigger it, and I

I’ve been testing the new Steam Controller for weeks & interviewed Valve’s team. Here are my full impressions and their unedited Q&A
I know this is kind of niche, but I was wondering, what is it like to use the left pad as WASD for a 3d game or as a d-pad for a 2d games? I know it sounds weird because the controller has a left-stick and d-pad, but I have the OG Steam Controller and having an input I can use without putting consta

For those of you that got a steam controller, what's the usecase you're most excited for?
As one of the few people that has been regularly using a steam controller for the past ten years, I love novel controllers and I especially love touch pads. I can't think of a particular use case though, I've gotten so much out of the original steam controller and still have an unopened one from whe

SteamOS and performance
Doing software and hardware from one hand can be benefical. Apple has shown how well this can work. We got nice products from Valve, the Steam Controller (yeah, it got discontinued, but it was innovative and everything they learnt from it went into the Steam Deck), Steam Machines (also failed, but w

best trackball mouse for my tendinitis?
You could probably use it in bed, just need a proper lap table thingie. Another option BTW are thinkpad laptops or keyboards with similar joystick like controller in the middle. I've also been using a now discontinued Steam Controller for mouse control, as it uses touchpads controlled with thumbs. P

The Daulsense Is A Great Controller And Neat Piece Of Tech I Dont Know Why People Dont Like It
Then name another controller with a trackpad and gyro besides the discontinued Steam Controller that you can go and buy right now? If you want Gyro, a Trackpad and Analogue triggers in one controller, which was the main reason I got a DualSense for my PC, then there's no real other option. Sure the
