Looking for a budget NAS for a small home project

UGREEN NASync DH2300 2-Bay NAS Enclosure is ~$190. UGREEN NASync DXP2800 2-Bay NAS with Intel 4-Core CPU and 8GB DDR5 Diskless ~$290. If you need Plex Transcode (require Plex Pass) then this should be a good option as its CPU is Intel N100. They are often on sales for $20 less. These have its own op

Please help- just searching for a plain jane NAS with 4 TB

Easiest thing would be a UGreen NAS. The DH2300 is $190 and you'll need a couple of HDDs. You can get a pair of refurbished 12TB drives off eBay for like $150-200 each. A NAS seldom comes with drives and the specs you're seeing are probably the onboard storage for the NAS OS and/or RAM. UGreen comes

Anyone else still deeply attached to local music libraries in 2026?

I have a Ugreen DH2300 NAS with my entire FLAC library on it, and Navidrome running in Docker. It's a self-hosted Subsonic server, super lightweight, and incredibly easy to set up. To listen on my mobile device, I use Symfonium, which connects directly to Navidrome.

Recommendation for an upgrade of a 15 year old NAS

I went from a DS213 to the dh2300. So a similarish situation as you’re currently in. I can pretty much do anything I could need: photo backups (local AI identification and facial recognition etc.) (also an option to easily remove all duplicate photos (and files). — unlike the dxp models, you cannot

NAS. Buy or build?

Just know that the mobo/CPU combo is OLD. Nothing wrong with old, but it won't have the latest tech in terms of jellyfin encoding. It will have slower ports like USB 2.0 and slower sata and maybe not even NVME. It will also pull down MUCH more power than a newer device. You can get a N100/N150 mini

jellyfin VS plex VS theatre app

The Theater app is awesome. I use it on the DH2300 and have thrown a few movies at it. I was surprised to get an interface similar to Plex or JellyFin, but I like that I didn't have to adjust any settings to get the correct background, cover art, etc for all the movies I ripped. I've been buying DVD

What NAS are you all using?

My first foray into NAS and media servers so went the cheap(ish) plug and play route with a Ugreen DH2300 and 2x4TB drives I had inherited. Docker isn’t natively supported on this model so had to mess around with it to get it to work. It’s working fine for what I’m using it for at the moment but I’m

Halloween Giveaway: Win $1,500 in Cash & Prizes!🎃

https://imgur.com/a/btla0iE This photo was taken a couple of years ago, after I tried pumpkin carving for the first time. Pictures like this are currently backed up on OneDrive, but as I work to reduce my reliance on Big Tech, the UGREEN DH2300 NAS feels like a lifesaver for securely storing all my

Help me pick a NAS

I started with a dh2300, upgraded to a dxp2800. Don’t see a point in going to a 4 bay unless you’re storing massive amounts. I’m running 13 containers in docker on it as well(tailscale, adguard, fail2ban, etc) without needing to add ram, 8gb standard is plenty. It works for pretty much everything, a
