UGREEN NAS Dh2300
You bought the wrong NAS, DXP2800 is the model to go for 3rd party apps. The DH2300 has 4GBs of ram soldered and a Rockchip RK3576 which likely won't have support for it's media and AI accelerators natively in all those apps. So they'll run like crap. You'll be limited to Ugreen's basic apps and may

I second this suggestion. Get not only one nas, but two. One you keep at your place a and second one that you keep at a location offsite (family member, friends house, etc.). This give you s FULL control and ownership of your data, is available over the internet should you desire, so it can operate

First DIY NAS - I am going insane
Save yourself the hassle and confusion trying to put something together. It's a hit or miss in normal times, and these days hardware costs are going through the roof, not to mention that picking whichever NAS software you end up with will have its own steep learning curve. Therefore, I think you mig

How would you rate your experience with your UGREEN NAS so far?
I’m… 50/50. I am happy with my dh2300 but I’m not happy that it feels generic. I’m seeing videos on installing apps and all I get are the basic apps. That’s on me though. Think I got the wrong one. Does the dh2300 do what it says? Yes absolutely however I should’ve went with a different model. With

What NAS are you all using?
My first foray into NAS and media servers so went the cheap(ish) plug and play route with a Ugreen DH2300 and 2x4TB drives I had inherited. Docker isn’t natively supported on this model so had to mess around with it to get it to work. It’s working fine for what I’m using it for at the moment but I’m

Is DH2300 enough for plex/jellyfin
I currently use Jellyfin on my dh2300, it handles it perfectly, even with tailscale for remote use. I warn you that you'll need to install the docker app manually, as it's not available in ugreen store for the dh2300.

NAS recommendations — secure remote access + encrypted drives + auto on/off?
Since you don't need to run services or containers you really need a DAS or a very basic NAS like the Ugreen dh2300 The Ugreen has remote access, not sure about encrypted options. And I believe you can set it to sleep. It's powered by a phone chip so even if you left it running it's going to draw ab

Thinking of getting a DH2300, will use it to store movies to watch on Apple TV. Will use it maybe 2 or 3 times a week. My question, is there any issue with only turning it on when I need it?
Upgrade to the DXP 2800 if you want any advanced image functionality as Immich is in a different league compared to the photos app Ugreen's natively use. The ARM CPU and RAM limitation will definitely present hardware issues with Immich vs the N100 from the DXP 2800. If a really basic image server i

What will be the easiest way to set up a network Time Machine drive for when AFP is discontinued?
Okay, so just buy a NAS that has Time Machine support. They aren’t that expensive. An example would the UGREEN NASync DH2300 but there are likely others that are similar.

Building a home server
I'm using the Ugreen DH2300 and it's just perfect for what you want to do. But not for anything else. If it's only backups you want, use that and sell everything you have so you can afford it. The setup is very very easy and the app guides you perfectly. Remote access is also enabled by default so y
