OpenClaw is now available on UGREEN NAS!
u/UgreenNasyncSo you guys think it’s a good idea to add support for an AI model that has been flagged for security issues, while refusing to update docker engine itself to fix some very serious vulnerabilities?? I thought Ugreen cared about security

OpenClaw is now available on UGREEN NAS!
Sorry UGREEN but this is a bad direction to be heading in. We don't want further AI bloatware on our NAS, the UGREEN AI models for photo management are enough...giving the users capabilities to integrate other AI services like Openclaw agents is a terrible idea and I see it being a security concern

No encryption?
It’s not encrypted, and it’s currently not possible to encrypt it only option you have is to use the vault app - it is on their roadmap but looks like its low priority as its been pushed back from last year it seems, the data should be safe otherwise unless someone has physical access to the machine

PSA Ugreen does not allow RSYNC backup to be restored to other devices because of encryption which cannot be disabled and to which you do not have the key. If this is your only backup of your data, you will lose it if the nas fails.
Im talking about backup to a remote server, Its different for external SSDs you attach to the nas, if you backup via rsync to a remote server, the backup is encrypted and can only be decrypted and restored to your ugreen nas. If you restore it to another device, its useless encrypted gibberish. If y

Help choosing a NAS device mostly used for family photos and videos
Watch this video before you buy a UGREEN. About 3 mins in he shows you how often UGREEN NAS is pinging chinese servers. I would never buy one of these. Go with Synology, it's easy to use, has tried and true solid architecture that will keep your data safe. If you don't care about your data getting l

Anybody ever use the Linux interface? What can you do on it?
I asked about this recently and got a response confirming my suspicions it is not safe to do. https://www.reddit.com/r/UgreenNASync/comments/1r123cr/how_safe_it_is_to_do_apt_upgrade_etc/

2‐bay vs 4‐bay, which makes more sense for a home NAS setup?
Pricing direct from UGREEN DH4300 Plus - 4 bays - US$ 386.99 DXP2800 - 2 bays - US$ 319.99 The $67 difference is well worth it. However, UGREEN is located in a country that raises privacy concerns and that's where its software is developed. Some other manufacturers use parts from there, but they dev

UGREEN has shady stuff in their terms of service, you couldn't pay me to touch one. They talk about the types of things you're allowed to store on it, which suggests to me there may be backdoor access. https://www.reddit.com/r/UgreenNASync/comments/1koq4v1/user_agreement_questionable_points/
