Update completly crashed my network
Used Ubiquity for 4 years, always had auto update on everything. UDM, then UDM:SE and now UCG:Fibre… and UNAS Pro.. all on Official release channel. Never had an issue. No issue with 4.4.9 either.

UNAS Pro 8?
The thing is Ubiquiti is still at a lower price than the QNAPs and Synology running the same or similar SoC. A QNAP TS-832PXU-4G is $939 on Amazon with the same SoC. The UNAS Pro 8 will be $799. The QNAP doesn't come with any NVME sockets and you can't add a 2nd PSU to that model later. You have to

UPS 2U pairing with UNAS Pro 8.
Yes, the UPS 2U outputs a simulated sine wave, which can in theory cause instability with active PFC power supplies like the UNAS Pro’s. But I find it unlikely Ubiquiti would build first-party graceful shutdown integration between these two products without bench-testing that the stepped waveform fa

Time Capsule Replacement
I’d personally get ubiquiti’s UNAS 2 I don’t have experience with it personally but I have their UNAS Pro and for a simple NAS it works perfectly. https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/unas-2

UPS & UNAS Pro 8 - I know they’re incompatible but can anyone confirm my understanding?
Most of those people don't really know what they're talking about. They see "simulated" sine wave and freak out thinking it's a fundamentally flawed product, when it is not. I am not an electrical engineer but all the research I've seen has shown that the lack of pure sine wave is not as big a deal

Trying to de-Google and having issues installing Nextcloud
Yes, definitely want to self-host. I don't want to trade Google's cloud for someone else's cloud. And the NAS solution is already decided upon and installed and working incredibly well. I won't be trading it for some other type of NAS because UNAS Pro integrates into my Unifi app already and is cont

Synology requires self-branded drives for some consumer NAS systems, drops full functionality and support for third-party HDDs
Ubiquiti has their UNAS Pro, and they've had a far better track record than synology does. It'll still be a risk of course, but it should be a smaller one.

Should I buy a UDM Pro?
The UDM-Pro is still a fantastic option. I wouldn't have any hesitations about buying one today. While it's getting older, I suspect that it'll continue to get support for years seeing as Ubiquiti released the UNAS Pro NASes using the same CPU. If you're willing to go with something that isn't rackm

Is the UNVR End of Life? New customer and I'm confused...
Any time. For what it's worth, I bought the UNAS Pro (7 bay) more recently, because I feel it meets all of my needs. In order to protect myself from first-gen product problems or other risks, I bought UI Care for $99, which extended it to a 5 year warranty. If it has a problem in year 4 and they don

Looking for NAS Recommendations
What are you doing to those poor NAS's? I still use my 13yo DS413j for TimeMachine backups alongside my DS1817 (8yo) and DS1821+ (4yo) which are my primary storage and mirror. The two newer machines have been maxed out with RAM and 10GB cards and the DS1821+ has two M.2 cache drives. They have been
