A dedicated grinder serves a few purposes. infinitely easier to deal with switching beans if that’s something you’re into, especially if you start single dosing vs throwing a pound into the hopper. Even just switching between cafe and decaf is a huge pain in these combo machines. for $300-500 range,

Well I bought the Turin Legato V2 (I'm in the UsA). I was either going to get the Gaggia or the Gemilai 3007Z (Turin Legato V2 or MiCoffee Apex V2 in these parts). Gaggia interested me due to it's long solid reputation but I wanted to be able to adjust things as my tastes change in coffee every so o

Unless you very specifically want to do the gaguino/gagimate mod, I would personally steer away from the Gaggia Classic. A machine like the Turin Legato v2 (aka MiCoffee Apex v2) is loaded with much more functionality out of the box. I don't think it makes sense to get a machine without PID temp con

Turin Legato V2 would be the only machine in your price range (actually under it) that would be a notable upgrade. Makes very good espresso and milk drinks, not quite dual boiler but very near it with a brew boiler and separate thermoblock for steaming. Pre-infusion, PID control, adjustable OPV, and

Just gonna say that the grinder is arguably more important of the two though less so if you’re making milk drinks. I’ve got a Gemilai 3007Z (same as the Turin Legato V2 etc) that I got for $450 shipped. My grinder is a df54 that I got in the first wave and it’s been pretty decent for the price besid

Turin Legato V2. Wendougee Data S ($3000, but a killer of any Decent and any Italian machine less than $7000 - has many Italian Swiss components).

Beautiful machine. I was interested in this model too but during my research I came across a user report of high lead content from another model made by the same manufacturer (Gemilai) that gave me pause. Would you mind running a water test with your machine? https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/commen

I'm a true believer that the turin legato v2 is the best machine you can get for $500. For reference, I used to have one. The flow control isn't true flow control where you can change it mid-shot in order to give your different pressure profiles. You could dimmer mod it to be able to do that pretty

There are a few reasonable options: De’Longhi ECP3420 $130 - best if she wants to drink straight espresso and you want to save some money, a really quality machine for the price, just a little weak on the steam Breville Bambino+ $400 - best if she wants to make milk drinks, milk steaming on this wil
