Currently I only have 1 omada device in my network stack but it's the core switch of my entire network. The SX3832 - 10gb switch , is the base which connects to another 6 switches throughout my home. The TL-SG1428pe is also in my network rack and used for PoE connected devices, and there's a handful

Well, if you ran CAT6 why scrimp on the router? I went with this because I'll never have 10 gbps service nor will I have a need for that. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1898444-REG/tp_link_er7412_m2_omada_multi_gigabit_vpn.html I couldn't justify the ER8411 for that reason. The Access line of swit

Top switch is sx3008, all other switches are sg3* series. None support OSPF in controller mode, nor am I interested in doing it on the switches at this point. It works on the er8411 in stand alone mode, why has tp-link not incorporated it in controller mode?

If you really need it then there's the TP-Link ER8411 at $399. I think you're compounding one bad decision with another if you really look at your use case as a home owner with where you can actually get that speed and what devices would require it. If money isn't a concern though then there's the G

OP never asked "is it worth it" but "will I regret it." If money is the deciding factor, i don't think they would be asking the question. They are stoked over getting 10G fiber. That suggests either they bought into marketing hype or believe they may have a use for that bandwidth, otherwise why pay

I have a TP-Link ER8411. I certainly wouldn't classify it as "a basic consumer grade router".One thing I've learned is that many of the TP-Link equipment have features that are not available if you use the Omada controller to manage them. It sucks, because the Router itself has DNS capabilities, but

Thanks for the info. I’ve just upgraded my home network stuff to 2.5 GbE (new mini PC and a desktop NIC upgrade). We’ve also got new fiber in the area, around 7000 Mbps symmetrical, so I needed to replace the TP-Link VR605 with something that can actually use it. I was considering the ER8411, but I

I agree that in a typical SMB setting you're going to have a switch to do majority of the local network communication, thus potentially you only need one port that's multi-gig for WAN and one for LAN to use with the switch. Thing is, unless you want to use cloud for management (which may incur extra

Nope, not accurate. I have an OC300 paired with an ER8411 (top most powerful router). tp-link even confirms in multiple places that none of the routers can do it in controller mode, but gives no reason why this limitation. Outside of features being stripped out of the oc200 due to memory and cpu con

I'm doing in-depth research on the Ubiquiti ecosystem and I have to say I'm very disappointed with Omada, despite really liking the environment. The comparisons are devastating. Price/performance/software/features. The Ubiquiti environment is unbeatable. We spend much less to deploy a Ubiquiti ecosy
