TP-Link Deco in Router or AP Mode when paired with an isp router?

This matches my experience. I could only attain about 1/2 of my expected download speed over ethernet when using my Deco M5 node in router mode.

1Gig in, 400mb over WiFi?

The Deco M5 has a maximum wifi speed on 5 GHz of 867 Mbps and the X20 max wifi speed on 5 GHz is 1201 Mbps. Both routers only have 1 Gbps Ethernet ports, so the more devices connected (wired and wireless), the slower your WiFi speeds. 600 Mbps or so is probably your best speed, especially since neit

help me fix my apartment wifi!

The Deco M5 is quite old, based on the WiFi technology introduced in 2012 (WiFi 5). And it aslo 2x2-devices, so somewhat more limited bandwidth between the units. Getting around 300-350 behind the first Deco device that is cabled to the router sounds correct. And then there is - at least theoretical

Are my speeds unreasonably slow? If so, what are my next steps?

1st, your Deco M5 Mesh system is underpowered for your 1Gb Fiber service; if possible you should upgrade to something that is Wifi6e or Wifi7 compatible. Oh, absolutely aware. We've had the Deco since 2018, and just got the fiber in 2022 or 2023. Upgrading equipment isn't in the cards unless it's a

hEX S (2025)

The price point on this is tempting.I have been trying to decide between an RB5009 and UCG Ultra for my routing needs, as the current Deco M5 does not do that function too well. Can a second RJ45 be mapped as a second WAN? I would prefer to keep the SFP for a switch connection. What I am still wonder

Internet speed drops to below 100 Mbps after few hours of router restart

This article was written (Swedish) about the Deco M4. "This is an extra price-pressed version, where TP-link has removed a few features and scaled down the wifi capacity. However, only marginally. It is an AC1200 router instead of an AC1300 router like their own Deco M5, which means that the bandwid

TP link ER605 or Mikrotik HEX S (2025)?

This is what made me go for Mikrotik. I was tempted to grab the L009 without the wireless but the 150Mhz of processing difference convinced me to go for E60iUGS This is the first time I'm not purchasing a TP link product in the last 12 years of my internet life. Had to make this decision after using

Are my speeds unreasonably slow? If so, what are my next steps?

So a few things to talk about. 1st, your Deco M5 Mesh system is underpowered for your 1Gb Fiber service; if possible you should upgrade to something that is Wifi6e or Wifi7 compatible. And for a stop-gap, temporary fix, you should look into doing a wired Ethernet backhaul connection between your mai
