UPDATE: Postie dumped my parcel, signed for it on my behalf and it got stolen. Postie showed up at my house to confront me.

This Tapo camera is wireless and the mounting is magnetic. So if you have any metal you can attach it to it requires no holes to mount it. Just buy a recommended SD for it and it records locally so no storage plan fees. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tp-link-tapo-2k-smart-wire-free-security-came

Thoughts on AI use?

I have multiple non AI cameras and honestly I have no interest in the petlibro AI camera even though I love their products. My TAPO cameras detect if my cats are meowing and they are set up in strategic places so I can keep track of their drinking, eating and litterbox habits. They cost about 20€ to

H500 in Homekit?

I have a bunch of cameras, most without memory cards because I use HomeKit Secure Video (Scrypted =>Apple Home). It was cost effective for me to buy the H500 plus a 2.5" SSD versus a bunch of microSD cards. Note: Installing a memory card disables the local stream needed for Scrypted, which is why I

HomeKit POE Camera?

Yeah, I have a wyze v3 mounted to my 3D printer and the reliability on that is not great. I’m obviously running a full Unifi stack incl the NVR so the choice for me was obvious. I have no experience with Reolink but everything I’ve seen/heard is positive. The Tapo cameras I have are all mains powere

No-sub outdoor camera setup in 2026? Just realized I spent $520 on subscriptions in 4 years

You're paying for subscriptions because you're buying consumer grade cameras. With the money you spent over those years, you can buy some TP-LINK Tapo or other solar cameras with onvif protocol. Also, buy an outdoor wifi range extender, a good cheap one like Wavlink or something like that. If it has

Has anyone used Secuview for home security in Qatar? Looking for feedback.

The best is to just get a lot of Tapo Cameras connect them wherever you want and connect them to wifi, then connect them all to a machine with "Frigate" installed on it, then you have all the data and recording and AI features and detection and it's very reliable and most impotantly, free 😄

Is a brand like Tapo solid/reliably enough for home security?

We have 8 outdoor Tapo cameras and they work fine for us. They are PoE/wired to the network and not using the WiFi capability built into them. The cameras can be configured to record to a NVR and we had one for quite a few years but I shut it down recently. We have SD cards in the cameras and use th

Looking for a good wireless security camera system.

Have more than 20 TP-Link Tapo cameras, wireless, RTSP and writing to SD card as well. Cheap and works great but all related on your wifi configuration - I have several APs as the house is big so bandwidth is distributed among them.

What capabilities do you wish your home security device or system had that it doesn’t have today, or could be improved?

I wish cameras had more flexibility of placement. Sometimes I would like to have a camera in a location where I don't have anything to hang it on at the optimal height and angle. Tapo cameras miss a lot when set up lower. Watching wildlife is a secondary purpose for our security cameras. I wish ther
