What spec would you use for Immich?
Immich really doesn’t require much. I’m using a Synology DS923+. The only downside was my initial import of 1TB of photos took quite awhile to complete all the jobs and tasks for optimizing my library, face recognition, thumbnails, etc. Alter the initial import is done it requires almost nothing on

Synology vs alternatives for a first, family-friendly NAS – worth it?
Besides what everyone already said here I would like to add a few things: In terms of storage I’ve been taught going for 2.5 times the storage of what you think you need. Doing some quick maths (200 gb * 3 * 2,5=1.500 GB). Always round up above so 2 tb minimum for a drive. There is no such thing as pl

First NAS for photos/video, Plex/Jellyfin, remote access & multi-user — 2-bay vs 4-bay advice?
I just finished setting up my NAS as well for similar use cases as yours. Did a ton of research and second guessing, but here’s where I ended up: Get a 4 bay NAS. It just gives you so much flexibility for your setup and future. I got the DS925+. Was planing to get DS923+ but after Synology walked ba

Which 4 bay again?
The overall best two Synology models to consider that are 4 bay and decently priced, with good overall options, would be the DS925+ and the DS923+. The DS925+ would rank as better imo because it's newer. Otherwise both have similar specs. For example, the DS925+: CPU: AMD Ryzen V1500B 4-core 2.2 (ba

Autobackup between NAS's
I'm happy I could help! If you keep both your NAS devices up and running and online, yes, you can access them whenever you want from wherever. A strong password, 2FA and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. The DS224+ might seem like a good model, but it has an outdated Intel Celeron J4125 CP

Pihole on NAS
Having done exactly this I say go it - with one caveat. Use a VM not a docker container. I run my 2 pihole instances on 2xDS923+. Primary and secondary. I didn't like the way docker did networking. I could not do same subnet ips. I didn't like the idea of using the host IP and ports. Maybe you can s

Favorite Self-Hosted Tools in 2025 (Looking for More Suggestions!)
To give you an idea, I have a similar setup, different tools, but about the same number and complexity, and everything runs great on a Synology DS923+, with the RAM upgraded to 32GB. Even 8GB would be enough.

Looking to move on from my Synology DS218+, what is the best NAS for a £300 budget?
Since you’re already in the Synology ecosystem, let's be real: Synology is still the most stable and reliable NAS OS out there. I wouldn't recommend switching brands just yet. However, given your 2-bay requirement (which rules out the DS923+) and your decision to skip their 2025 lineup, there is alm

Buying a new NAS or building one yourself? Currently using DS918+
Depends on what you need in terms of expansion at least for me. I’m running a DS923+ and it’s been a wonderful experience super easy to setup, plenty of guides for docker or anything. Drive and photos support out of the back… Synology is plug and play reliability. Problem is I’m going hardcore with

INTERESTED IN SELLING MY SYNOLOGY 4 BAY NAS SERVER |DS918+|15TB|PERFECT CONDITION|SPARINGLY USED|NO WARRANT|
True, and respectfully, the 925+ and new series are locking down on drives that can be used on Synology NAS. Plus the prices that you see on ebay don't cover shipping. Atleast I'm in Mumbai and Im not sure if they ship for 15 to 25$ all the way here from U.S. Look, I'm upgrading to a bigger setup an
