I'm happy I could help! If you keep both your NAS devices up and running and online, yes, you can access them whenever you want from wherever. A strong password, 2FA and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. The DS224+ might seem like a good model, but it has an outdated Intel Celeron J4125 CP

Based on your extensive experience, what is your most important advice for a new NAS user?
I have a DS723+ and I'm finding the AMD Ryzen R1600 processor more than fast enough for a home user. I thought the Ryzen R1600 was the processor Synology uses for many of its better boxes? I have the option of more bays via an expansion box should I need them, but I haven't in 8 years of using a NAS
