DS925+ Removed

Maybe they found a problem. Synology branded hard drives refused to be installed in DS925+ units with non-synology branded electrical fuses in the power cord. /S

Synology is tightening restrictions on third-party NAS hard drives

Good, they deserve to be drug through the mud. Prosumer home devices like the DS925+ SHOULD NOT have bullshit restrictions like this. Let the user decide on the "risk" they want to take running "non synology" drives. Fucking insane.

Synology DS925+ Compatibility Pages Now Up

Here's the direct link to the relevant information: https://www.synology.com/en-au/compatibility?search_by=drives&model=DS925%2B&category=hdds_no_ssd_trim The line "Synology does not guarantee compatibility with listed products" is hilarious considering it's exclusively their own supposedly validated dr

Synology press release regarding changes to HDD compatibility

I dont know why they want to screw home users over like this, this is nothing more than greed. I think they're really screwing themselves with this change. I know my DS923+ will be my last Synology NAS unless a major change happens. I dont see the value anymore, the DS925+ cant even have 10GbE , lik

What about the OS?

Nothing else compares to DSM as an OS from the research that I have done. Every other OS is fraught with people complaining about problems or inadequacies. I’m looking forward to getting my DS925+ and just plugging it in and letting it work. Plus, you can trust Synology from the standpoint of privac

DS925+ only compatible with Synology HDD according to Belgian seller

I was very close to getting a Synology NAS, but when the 923+ came out and had some downsides Vs 920+ it made me hesitant. I've sat on the fence for a couple of years looking at different releases. Since the DS925+ has underwhelming hardware and seems even more locked down, I've just gone for a ugre

Both DS925+ and DS923+ are available to purchase here. Which one should I go for and why?

IMHO If you don’t mind be held hostage by Synology to use their over-priced relabeled harddrives, and you don’t mind paying dearly for seriously outdated hardware and underwhelming hardware features, you could go for DS925+. If you feel you deserve some freedom of choice, and are still okay paying d

My boss has collected around 40+ Hard drives 20+ SSDs and wants to know how to make his setup more efficient

I suggest you reach out to an IT company that can help you set this up, but at a minimum a DIY solution needs to be a NAS with a second NAS or cloud storage as backup (the latter of course will get very expensive) I genuinely recommend a 4 bay Synology like a DS925+ kitted out with 4 24-30TB drives

DSM 7.3 NVMe cache locked to Synology SSDs only – any working way to use WD Red SN700?

The script adds whatever drives you have to the compatibility list. NVMe drives need to be on the list to be used for cache creation or storage pool creation for x25 Synologies. There's no real distinction there. More info: https://kb.synology.com/en-us/DSM/tutorial/Drive_compatibility_policies If thi

Have anyone tried mixing the 4GB Synology RAM with OW 16GB?

I have a DS925+ and couldn’t afford 2x16GB so kept the original Synology 4Gb ram in place and added a confirmed matching Crucial 16GB RAM. ECC unbuffered DDR4 etc. No issues in 2months since installed
