Is there a NAS device with simple OS that easily downloads torrents directly to your setup?

Synology Works great! Maybe try to get an older used model for cheap. I have ds918+ and its a workhorse.

UniFi UNAS 4 vs Synology DS425+ for Home Storage

A little bit different setup but I have unas pro, and I had synology rs1221+ (sold) i still have Synology DS918+. I have Intel NUC 13th gen for the apps. Personally for me synology has way more of different features but 99% of them i am not using. I think the best advantage of synology is iscsi supp

Unifi Doorbell and Apple TV

Yes - I use a synology NAS for both my plex and homebrige, working well so far. I guess the unifi plugin for homebridge requires a certain amount of hardware to run smoothly (ie maybe don’t try a raspberry pi). So far the synology ds918+ is up to the task though I only have one protect camera so far

Am I too stupid for TrueNAS?

I went from Synology ds918+ to TrueNAS virtualized on Proxmox with HBA passed through to TrueNAS vm and had no issues with stability. Lots of learning on snapshots, replication, mounts. But no stability issues. Can you post details on “random” crashes- logs, dmesg clips, etc? Hard to diagnose withou

UGREEN DXP4800 on Xpenology what's your experience?

I had it on DXP2800 and DXP4800 for short time> no complains. Now I have a DXP 4800plus and it´s running with no problems since 2-3 Weeks. I´m not panning to use it as my primary NAS ( MainNas DS720 ) but i´m using it as Jellyfin/PlexServer, Torrent, HomeAssistent, BackupNas. Main Nas (sensitive Dat

'Ideal' Syncthing host hardware?

depending on what size and number of files you want to share your requirements are different. without that information it's impossible to tell. i have ~1.5million files i share using multiple sync folders with approximately 1.5TByte of files. I had problems with the default 4 Gbytes of RAM in a Syno

Bye bye Synology, hello Unraid?

Your current Synology does not have hard drive lock, nor expansion. And they will probably cave soon enough. If you want to blow another $1000 on some new hardware just say that. That DS918 aint cheap. If you are used to DSM and you have failed on the command line I HIGHLY suggest you just get an ex

[B0T] Weekly Build Help Thread - 2025/09/29

I think first up you will need to decide if you want to go DIY or Pickup a turnkey solution. I would start here on this NASCompares channel video. This is pretty recent and should point out some differences between the 2 and which might be a good choice.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-YxbQYn8vs&t=

Seconding the recommendation to get a Synology NAS. I've had a DS918+ for almost a decade now with 24TB of storage across four disks (32TB real space, the rest for redundancy via RAID) and it's a total cinch to set up and use. You can go a lot further with it too if you're inclined, I have a bunch o

$20,000 in a photo

Good stuff man. Love the set up. What is your NAS configuration if you don’t mind me asking? Any tips for an elementary 16TB NAS user? Just built mine for remote video footage sharing. The drives are too slow for even local editing but great for mass footage dumps and backup. Feels weird leaving it
