I'll have to look into that more. My Plex server is on a Synology NAS and there doesn't seem to be a natively supported app for something like that, so it's not quite as straightforward as it would be for me to install on a Windows PC.

Ideal backup option for an external drive hosting database files
If I rsync my files/folders to a Synology NAS via CIFS (and BTRFS on Synology), will there be a chance of messed up user rights & permissions? Yes. Have a look at borg instead, bit more of a learning curve but a borg repository will retain all permissions. I do have an rsync script rsyncing home to

Probleme mit dem Maschine Backup auf Synology NAS
Ist leider normal bei Synology. Alle paar Monate spinnt das Setup. Musst du dann einmal zurücksetzen und bei Null beginnen. Also das Volume in Time Machine entfernen, die Dateien auf der Synology löschen, und dann neu einrichten. Passiert bei mir ca. einmal pro Jahr. Man gewöhnt sich dran.
