Are DSLRs still a thing or has mirrorless pretty much taken over?
I’m a longtime DSLR user who recently picked up a Sony A7IV. Modern mirrorless mops the floor with any DSLR when it comes to autofocus, but to me that’s really the only advantage. I prefer an optical viewfinder, and DSLRs are just generally more “ready.” You can leave a 5D in standby mode without dr

ITAP of a Swarm of Bees
I took a picture of a Swarm of bees laying down on the ground prone in front of a very active beehive, this took me thousands of attempts to get the proper focus and subjects in frame the way I wanted. This is in my opinion is my best photograph of the year throughout my macro journey, and I hope yo

Not sure where this fits in…. #sonyfx2
Dead on arrival… 🫤 So I’ve been digging into the upcoming Sony FX2, and I’m honestly struggling to understand who this camera is supposed to be for. It feels like Sony just slapped the A7IV’s guts into a slightly different body, called it “cinema,” and bumped the price up. With an expected price of

We spent a month in South Africa for our honeymoon. And we'd do it again.
During the wilderness trail in the Kruger, we were a group of 8 sleeping out in the middle of nowhere. Not another tourist in sight for 4 days. We were woken up quite a few times by lions roaring throughout the night. The next morning, our ranger told us to gear up, we're walking towards the lions t

Pretending to be a Nat Geo photographer, most fun I've had with my camera
Sony A7iv + 200-600mm Was lucky enough recently to spend three days self-driving in the Kruger National Park, and after that a 4-day wilderness trail/walking safari. Was honestly the most fun I've ever had behind the lens. Had some 10000 photos on my drive by the end of the week. imo so much of safa

Photos from a the frontlines of the Nakba Day Protest in Berlin - May 15 2025
If you want to be on the front line, then you need to be ready to get hit. I don't want to get into details, but being fit, lifting weights and understanding how to plant your feet go a VERY long way. If you fall, you fall. I have mentioned in another comment the amount of "attacks" I have suffered

Feeling I constantly have the wrong camera
Leicas and Hasselblads I feel are more for the love of photography rather than trying to get the “perfect shot”. They are limited and flawed, some people love those limitations, sometimes people don’t. I think the camera you’re looking for is a Sony A7IV or ACR and a 24-70 for all of your profession

Z6III Autofocus
Z6iii autofocus is on par with Sony a7iv. It was the previous gen z6ii that had the autofocus issues.

Lesson learned: don’t be like me.
Well.. as a self taught photographer, I had gone 3 years of shooting in single focus on my Sony A7iv (vs Continuous/“Servo”). I just always over-shot, and expected half my pics to be out of focus. Just figured that’s how it’s supposed to go. Then I started shooting sports so I needed to research how

Debating A7 IV vs Z6 III: is Sony’s AF really easier for casual shooting?
I moved from the A7IV to the z6iii and found the af to be about on par with one another for casual, street, landscape, edc use. I'm sure at the extremities the sony would eke out the last 10% over the Nikon but not in any way that a hobbyist would notice, I think.
