Camera preferences for using vintage lenses?

I've found my Sony A7ii to work very well with vintage lenses. I find focus peaking works pretty well for me along with the overexposure indication (zebra striping). And if I want to get really accurate with the focus I can zoom in quite easily.

Worth the switch?

Right, as a fellow Sony 20-70 f/4 owner and M43 shooter, let me share my thoughts… I own the Sony A7C (so, a step up from your A7II) along with the 20-70 f/4, plus a few other lenses. I also have an OM-5 paired with the 12-45 f/4 Pro. When I bought the Sony 20-70 f/4, my intention was to replace the

Anyone Switch From an A7IV to a Z6III or Z8?

I have beaten this drum to death by now but I went A7R2 -> Z7II w/Viltrox E-Z for about 4 months. Mid June sold the Z7II for a Z8. I shared your sentiment for disdain towards spending a metric ton just to shoot decent FPS on Sony, not to mention CFe A vs B. Ultimately it was a mix of that, having to

Budget Full Frame for Vintage Lenses?

Sony A7ii should be in your budget. Has decent focus aids and pretty effective IBIS, and it's easy to find in good condition.

Newbie in the Film World—Help Me Decide: Macro Lens or Scanner?

Setting up macro photography IS fiddly. Also how much better it will be than a good scanner will depend on many variables - just to name a few the lens, the stand, how stable your table is, how sensitive the floor is to vibrations and most importantly how patient and careful you are when setting up.

Are Zeiss Loxia lenses on Sony a good alternative to Leica?

There’s a big difference in the ‘look’ between Zeiss Loxia and Sony G Master lenses. Unlike the earlier Carl Zeiss lenses for Sony Alpha, the G Master lenses have zero Carl Zeiss involvement. Let there be no confusion here - G Master is a 100% Sony product and 0% Carl Zeiss. I agree with the OP that

Is this an upgrade or a downgrade?

Well, as said, it’s not that the first gen A7 is inherently bad with AF, it’s definetly way under the later versions (th A7II is a BOG upgrade in that compartment). Is a really different way of shooting than a DSLR and needs some getting used to. IMHO, if I were to go on a lighter everyday carry, I

Let's talk gear! Reviews, questions, etc.

With that budget I would go with the nikon 200-500. It’s a great lens and it will perform even better if you swap to the d500 later. I currently use the d500 and I’m really impressed. I have owned a few mirrorless cameras before (sony a7ii and sony a6600) and none of them feels as snappy as the d500

A7ii related buying advice?

Depends on the condition of the camera - if it is in excellent condition then that is about what they sell for. The value of the A7ii swings up and down -- it was released 11 years ago. I have an A7II, amongst other cameras. If I were starting all over again then I'd have a good look at the Nikon Z6

What mirrorless camera pairs well with a Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4?

I use Konica Hexanon AR and Pentax K lenses on my Sony A7II and they work perfectly with it. many other adapters for other mounts exist.
