What did it take you too long to realize?
Honestly, my a7Sii got me so good at MF that when I upgraded, it felt like AF was getting in the way. It’s a great too to have but I generally prefer not using auto anything

New to cameras, thoughts on Sony a7S II Mirrorless Camera?
I've done a few weddings with the a7sii and oh my god, I hate it. The rolling shutter is awful and the autofocus was so whack, and I was using native Sony lenses. For hobby and beginner type stuff, maybe you can make it work, down the line you can sell the body and buy a better one

The 7iii and 50mm are still a killer portrait combo
This is the older one. Af is shit on it. I used it to mount canon cine lenses on my a7sii years ago.

I think I might have committed a pretty stupid mistake as a beginner...
When I bought my GH6 I wanted anamorphic and bought the Sirui 35mm manual lens and realised how great manual focus was for filming. Since then I have bought a pile of vintage lenses and just love them. I use them on my A7Sii also and rarely have an AF lens attached these days or have it switched to

New to cameras, thoughts on Sony a7S II Mirrorless Camera?
I shoot photos and reels on my a7sii for clients and autofocus is shit. Ive learned to take more than one take to avoid this problem. (real headache on live events). It lacks 10 bit video. Slog 3 on this 8 bit camera is a lie. But I get by with Slog2. 120FPS HD is awsome when its useful. I dont use 4

Returning my FX30 - What's the right upgrade from GH5 for event/social media work?
You are me... Shot on the GH5 with 18-35 for years. Love the image and set up, DPs and producers thought I was shooting on a Red. But it obviously has some limitations. I got hired for a project that for me justified an upgrade, but like you didnt want to shell out a bunch of money. I ended up pulli

GH6 arriving today, I’m used to Canon EF/EF-S
3yrs later - why did I ever use autofocus - manual is king, I absolutely love it. Very rare I use AF these days. Only regular AF for me now is pocket 3 or action cam. Still love my GH6 and bought an old A7Sii for dark nights which is pretty much permanently on Manual like the GH6. Can’t find any exc

Choosing Between A7M5 and FX3 for Weddings + Narrative Work — Need Advice
I’m a wedding videographer and I’d take the fx3/a7siii over the a7v. You’re going to run into DJs that will want you to turn your lights off during dancing after the formalities are done and the low light capabilities will come in super handy. I rock the a7sii/fx3 combo and have never experienced ov

Upgrade options from a600
I use the A7sii for macro and vintage glass as the files aren't massive and use only manual focus. The auto focus for moving subjects isn't incredible. Way better image quality than my A6000 tho
