What did it take you too long to realize?

Honestly, my a7Sii got me so good at MF that when I upgraded, it felt like AF was getting in the way. It’s a great too to have but I generally prefer not using auto anything

New to cameras, thoughts on Sony a7S II Mirrorless Camera?

I've done a few weddings with the a7sii and oh my god, I hate it. The rolling shutter is awful and the autofocus was so whack, and I was using native Sony lenses. For hobby and beginner type stuff, maybe you can make it work, down the line you can sell the body and buy a better one

I think I might have committed a pretty stupid mistake as a beginner...

When I bought my GH6 I wanted anamorphic and bought the Sirui 35mm manual lens and realised how great manual focus was for filming. Since then I have bought a pile of vintage lenses and just love them. I use them on my A7Sii also and rarely have an AF lens attached these days or have it switched to

The 7iii and 50mm are still a killer portrait combo

This is the older one. Af is shit on it. I used it to mount canon cine lenses on my a7sii years ago.

New to cameras, thoughts on Sony a7S II Mirrorless Camera?

I shoot photos and reels on my a7sii for clients and autofocus is shit. Ive learned to take more than one take to avoid this problem. (real headache on live events). It lacks 10 bit video. Slog 3 on this 8 bit camera is a lie. But I get by with Slog2. 120FPS HD is awsome when its useful. I dont use 4

Returning my FX30 - What's the right upgrade from GH5 for event/social media work?

You are me... Shot on the GH5 with 18-35 for years. Love the image and set up, DPs and producers thought I was shooting on a Red. But it obviously has some limitations. I got hired for a project that for me justified an upgrade, but like you didnt want to shell out a bunch of money. I ended up pulli

A7V vs FX3

I'm in a similar position, looking to upgrade my A7iii and A7Sii (which I use as B/C cams with my A9iii) and I've been thinking of both a A7V and FX3, FX3 for better low light and the ability to have XLR input for certain jobs and the A7V to be a workhorse. My main concern about the FX3 was the auto

ZV-E1 LOG looks different compared to sLog3 PP

Not related sorry, but I have a question about the Sony ZV-E1, how do you find the autofocus and overheating compared to the FX3? I currently have a Sony A9iii, Sony A7iii and Sony A7Sii and I'm looking to replace the last two with a FX3 and A7v, but if the ZV-E1 would give comparable results at a l

Sony a7sII or Canon r50?

When i read cinematic quality and Instagram / Tiktok in the same sentence I usually roll my eyes... As others have correctly commented a camera or lens, or any single equipment for that matter does not turn something instantly cinematic. It is the combination of various things and techniques that gi

Switching systems

I was a Canon guy for 10 years but switched to the A7sii because at the time i was mostly shooting concerts/touring bands. So the low light was impossible to beat with every system. I would have love to have stayed with Canon, but they had no good options and it took them forever to catch up. Went f
