Just ordered the Horizon!
I'm liking mine! I found that I unfortunately had to enable Intel Management Engine in order for the CPU to be able to reach a c10 state, which greatly extended my battery life (along with swapping in an SK Hynix Gold P31 SSD that I had lying around).

ThinkPad T580 SSD compatibility (SC50Q58222 / 455.0CW02.0001)
No worries. Let me explain clearly. The caddy you have is for M.2 (the type of slot/connector) NVME SSDs (those SSDs logically connect to the computer via a PCIe bus). The Crucial P310 is of that form factor. It looks like a small rectangular board, like a stick of gum. and it usually comes in a 228

Samsung's new breakthrough NAND flash storage uses 96% less power, more details at CES 2026
It's a huge deal actually. For mobile devices (laptops, phones) you want to save every mW where possible. Arguably more important than peak power usage is idle usage. Take for example the Hynix P31 Gold which set headlines a while back. Not because it was particularly fast, it was average, but becau

Calling all X1 Carbon 6th Gen Owners!
SK Hynix p31 1tb will give you an extra 45-60m of battery life over an evo 970 if you use a lot of page file caching. It's the gold standard for laptop efficiency

Best battery life thinkpad
T14s gen 2 or gen 3. They have a slightly bigger battery than the T14 (non-s version) Make sure it has the low power display and equip it with a low power SSD I have a T14 gen 1 with Ryzen 4750u, 2 TB SK Hynix Gold P31 (probably the most efficient pcie3 drive) and low power display and battery lasts

Best Mac Mini M4 SSD upgrade comparison table
I don't think it's that big of a risk if you're buying from a reputable shop. For example.. M4-SSD honors their warranties, https://www.reddit.com/r/macmini/comments/1n0p2s2/3rdparty_ssd_cannot_revive_nor_restore_1561_mac/ in a production environment if you're not using cheap disk storage for backup's, da

Best NVME drive for TB4 enclosure?
Yes the p31 has DRAM and TLC NAND, speed will be bottlenecked at your connection type and what happens after the DRAM cache is filled. At sustained transfer post-cache write speed on the SN850X comes in at 920 MB/s while P31’s post-cache write speed maintains (1400 MB/s) which is is about 52% faster

Completely unnecessary purchase
Ahhh it's a QLC drive. That would do it. Those are more designed as secondary drives, with any kind of sustained writes, or if the drive is close to being full, it'll start experiencing slowdowns. You want a drive with TLC flash + a DRAM cache. I'd pop the intel into an enclosure and use it as extra

Samsung SSD in T14 gen4 running hot - recommendations for SSD that runs cool.
The SK Hynix Gold P31 is very efficient. Might be able to find one on the used market. It's a Gen 3 drive, so not super fast by today's standards, but performs well compared to other Gen 3 drives. Gen 4 drives are faster, but not that noticeable in typical usage.

What would be the best SSD for my HP Pavilion-15dk0xxx?
990 Pro and T500 are great, but definitely overkill here. Your laptop's PCIe 3.0 slot will bottleneck them anyway, and those top-tier Gen4 drives get super hot in laptops. Maybe, you can look into the SK hynix Gold P31 or Samsung 970 EVO Plus. They are perfect for Gen3 slots and have DRAM. The WD Bl
