How much does read/write speed matter on a drive for gaming.

You likely wouldn't even notice a difference between your gen 3 and a faster drive if it's just for gaming and general use. You may still consider buying a new 5.0 drive if your PC has a 5.0 slot, though. 1 TB fills pretty quick with the size of modern games and you may want to buy a SSD while price

So long Crucial... thanks for the fishes

Back in early 2023, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB drives were going for under $30. Should’ve bought hundreds.

Got curious. Put a 1tb SSD in my PS3

I had a Samsung 870 EVO collecting dust so I decided to see if I could install it in my PS3 and still use the stock firmware. It was a success! Load times are much quicker.

Recommend me some good PS3 SSD's

Kingstons are fine. I have 3 of them, 240gb in PC, 500 in slim PS3 and a 120 in a BC fat. Samsung EVO if you want something more premium.

What hard drives are you using these days?

I see the post about Samsung EVO 870's. These are regular SSD's. The WD SN850X M.2 NVMe drives will be DRAMATICALLY faster. And believe me - I have no issue with EVO 870's - I use them all the time. But the M.2 drives will just blow them away. Bob Zelin

Recommend me some good PS3 SSD's

Samsung EVO made from good components with known controller. This Kingston is made from whatever factory had and has higher chance to die suddenly.

Is this good for upgrade

Basically any SSD that's 1TB or less will work, Samsung is very decent as a brand. Seems like a slightly older version though, the most recent one was the 870 Evo, not the 860. Just make sure you're actually buying it new, it isn't recommended to buy storage used.
