Qnap TS-464 Questions

Ok, this is my crack at answering your questions. I have a TS-464 and a TVS-h1688x and love them both for the different purposes I have them for. Keep in mind that these are my experiences, but I did run them through google gemini for formatting and grammar before posting them. Question: Can the 8GB

QNAP 4 bay NAS available now that doesn't have big issues?

I also own a TS-464. I love it! QTS sucked on it, now it runs Unraid. QuTS Hero is also available, which is cool. This CPU problem of your old NAS actually we can thank to Intel, it also affected Synology products...

TS-453 Pro - Resistor Fix Longevity Question

Well, I did just buy a new nas this month. Wasn't done yet moving data to it so it's a bit annoying. It was a bit difficult to find something that suit me because I needed something quite compact (electrical closet, got vertical room but nearly none in both ways that matters). I also hesitated for a

Home NAS Advice

I agree with others who say that you might not want the top-spec or the latest model for the home usage, but to make it a bit future-proof and quite capable for tasks like video transcoding and (potentially) running more workloads than just a pictures and file server in the future, I would recommend

Waiting on new TS-464 - seems like QTS is best OS?

Hi, I´m in a similar position. Actually very similar, waiting for my TS-464 to arrive + 46TB WD red plus, 21TB NVME and 32 GB RAM :-) Similar use-case also Aaaand I´m asking the same questions regarding which OS to run... In another post people have had good experiences with running QuTS on a TS-464

NAS for torrent, emby, photos backup recommendation

On this subredddit you are mostly going to get enthusiasts who like building their own NAS- so TrueNAS and UGREEN. I just replaced a DS214 and my use cases are the same as yours. I initially was just going to get another synology but heard about their new HDD policy so this caused me to reflect on h

4 Bay 6camaras & home assistant via docker

TS-464 sounds like it would fit. Use the 4 spinning disks (RAID5) for your camera and data storage and the two NVMe (RAID1) for your docker or VM needs. If you upgrade the RAM you could even run QuTS with ZFS on that NAS.

Help me choose a NAS for homelab + media storage (4+ bays, low power, 24/7)

As someone who owns and runs both Synology and QNAP boxes, I say the only advantage that Synology has is in the slick user interface, whereas the QNAP desktop experience can feel slightly disjointed across its desktop UI and apps, leading to a some initial confusion to an unfamiliar user and can lea

How to convince my dad to buy a home server instead of an off-the-shelf NAS?

I have an Intel-based QNAP TS-464 with 32G RAM and it’s running dozens of containers without much of a sweat and sipping electric while doing so. Has an iGPU which is great at many tasks but no real upgrade path to a real GPU. But that’s the great thing about a NAS is it can simply be your network s

QNAP TS-251 not detected on network, no HDMI output, no beeps — LPC clock failure? Need data recovery advice

I had a TS-251 server upgraded to 8GB RAM and two WD RED PRO 6TB drives. I checked the drives and they were fine (in an external dual-drive bay connected to a PC, using DiskGenius to read the RAID – a paid program). I bought a new QNAP TS-464 and inserted my two drives. The system booted, but a few
