The Refugio 30 is close to the same size. See if Patagonia will warranty it. REI Ruckpack 30 for an alternative. Patagonia Black Hole 25 or 32 as well.

I just got a Patagonia Refugio daypack to replace my old messenger bag. Separate laptop section with padding. Nice and streamlined. In Smolder Blue it looks adultish and not too tacticool. Get a lighter bag and laptop and an ipad mini. Switching to a Patagonia Refugio 30 saves you 700 grams and the ipad mini saves you another 300. That's a kilo right there.
