My new sub bag vs my old sub bag

Mine is a black Patagonia Refugio backpack which is apparently being discontinued or updated: https://www.patagonia.com/product/refugio-daypack-26-liters/47913.html I find it perfect for teaching. Enough room and padded compartment for my personal iPad, chargers, and cables, along with spare pens, r

Recommendations for a everyday commute bag that doubles as a good carry-on pack for travel?

I'm 5ft7 and use a Patagonia Refugio 30L and it is extremely comfortable to carry. The latest model has bungee cords on the front that could easily be removed to make it look less casual. It's not a clamshell but has a reasonably deep opening so it doesn't feel too arduous to grab stuff from the bot

Bag Finder Megathread - 18 May 2026

I've looked at: Osprey Daylite 26+6...something about it I just don't love. I know it's highly recommended. Looks like laptop might just barely fit in the case but I'd have to open the whole bag to get to it which is kinda annoying. I love Cotopaxi bags but they won't fit the 16" laptop. For anyone

I built this bag, which goes from 1L Fanny pack to 7L Active pack.

I think there was another redditor who explained it well above, but I would say the general challenge in drafting any sort of pattern to go over a chest is that you forget that the side bust also takes up space. It’s not just about the chest volume is forward, it also comes out into the side, above

Ultralight onebags?

I’m contemplating an Atom, but I’m looking to take a single bag for indefinite travel, and it’s such a specialised pack. Please could you share how this setup was the best you’ve tried yet? Liteway also look to be a great company, and one of their packs has a way to keep their laptop sleeve flush to

Some questions on Patagonia refugio 30L

Very late to this post! I have the Patagonia Refugio 30L and have only used it for airport travel so far. No issues with it, and I think the specific airlines I used it with were Delta and American Airlines. I always used it as a carry-one, and it fits well underneath the seat. All of that to say...

What backpack y’all rocking?

https://www.patagonia.com/product/refugio-daypack-30-liters/47928.html I have used the shit out of this backpack for 1.5 years now and it’s still in perfect condition. Really comfortable and spacious. Spendy, but it’ll last me my entire undergrad and then some

Help me decide between Quasar, Refugio, and Nebula

Update: After a lot of research I decided that the Osprey Nebula was too big for what I would be using it for day to day. A lot of comments even made me consider going into the 18-24L range but ultimately my choice came down to the Osprey Quasar and the Patagonia Refugio. I really enjoyed the fit an

Best travel backpack for someone tired of checking bags and paying fees

I only travel once a year, but I just took a 7 day domestic trip using the Patagonia Refugio 30L backpack. I had 3 days worth of clothes, a jacket and an extra pair of shoes in the laptop compartment, toiletries, makeup, and a bulky round brush type hair dryer. It as a snug fit. I should have left t
