If you're just getting started, I'd buy a Sony.
You'll be paying Sony tax for everything tho, I say go the Leica with Panasonic S5IIX

Thoughts on Lumix S5iix for video vs what I currently use (Nikon Z8)
Hey there! Full time business photographer videographer here. Looks like you’re hitting the limit of using a hybrid photo camera for long form video. The Nikon Z8 is an incredible camera, but some would say it isn’t built for hour plus continuous recording, especially in a theater environment. Readi

Is Lumix better for video than photography?
I wouldn't say it's video first. It's just that Lumix actually gave you the video features required to fully utilize the capabilities of the camera. The competition often kneecapped their cameras by treating video as a gimmick. Even on Sony cameras, which were popular for video and had capable hardw

Got 5k to put into my business and need a good camera setup. This is what I chose any suggestions or ways to cut down on the cost I'm already very good at video editing and photo editing, color grading run an Instagram with 117k followers. Been using other friends cameras but finally getting my own.
Unless you are married to the idea of going Sony, consider the Lumix S5iix. Outstanding hybrid for same price as the slightly outdated a7iii. Your estimates for batteries and charges will transfer to Panasonic nicely

Anybody go from S5IIX to S1RII?
I switched from Sony (a7r5, a1) to Panasonic last year. Picked up the s5iix and a few lenses. I fell in love with video on that camera, and for photos is was pretty good, but nothing I would write home about coming from those two Sony bodies. I’ve since purchased the s9 (which I love for a small wal

Best video camera worth buying the MOST currently in your opinion?
I can only speak to full frame. If you don't need the ABSOLUTE best in autofocus, and want to avoid breaking the bank, the Panasonic S5IIX does absolutely everything well. One step up in price will give you a big step up in performance to the Panasonic S1II. Another step up in price will give you an

Ok then, on the Fuji bandwagon I jump
Mount Fuji bro 😂😂😂.. I like Panasonic, but seriously would consider Nikon Z8 for bang for buck if I was in the market. Performs better than the S1rii still and it's two years older and cheaper. The only thing that would hang me up is the screen only being tilt. I'd consider Fuji for a medium format

S5M2, S5M2X, S9 Firmware Update Available! (July 15, 2025)
Before you become so despondent, the S1Rii firmware version 1.1 was a bug fix and for improving operational stability. The June v1.2 was the monster feature update as promised. Despite Panasonic's recent history of doing press releases for game changing firmware updates, small regular updates should

Wedding photographer looking to add video (Canon ecosystem?) – R6 Mark II or switching brands
Some thoughts as a full time videographer who has shot weddings in the past: I have the r6 mk3. I do not recommend it as a video-only camera. I bought it to be my hybrid body to complement my c70. If you want a video-focused body within the canon ecosystem, your only decent opinions are R5C, C70, C8

Work has given me $10k to buy equipment for a video podcast, what do I need?
I'd say 3 Panasonic s5iix, they can be had cheap every so often and come bundled with free lenses quite often as well. I picked them as you can plug a USB SSD straight in and record for hours in a huge variety of codecs etc. But if there is a cheap deal on another brand or they're out of range then
