S5ii first lens recommendations?

S5iiX and S1ii longtime user here! Been in this situation hunting lenses, many times, for10 yrs. Short answer if one-and-done: Sigma 20-200 Tried almost all Sigmas and Lumixes, bought every FF L mount focal length from primes to zooms, 14-200mm. M4/3 too. Can't go wrong with any starting out really.

Is Lumix better for video than photography?

It's very good for photography with a few caveats. This is based on my experience with the S5ii, latest firmware. AFC + TTL flash performance is still not on par with major brands, Sony, Nikon and Canon. There is a delay. It's good enough that many users don't care or don't notice but if you are com

Which Lumix full-frame camera do you recommend for wedding photography?

Upgrade G9 to G9ii (much better in every way from sensor to AF) and keep PL 12-60 f/2.8-4 (add PL 50-200 f/2.8-4 and if need further reach 100-400ii f/4-6.3, both work well with 1.4x teleconverters) and get an S5ii with 24-60 f/2.8 and 35-150 f/2-2.8 and be done. Use each system to their strengths,

Upgrading camera for freelance video work: FX3, Nikon ZR, or stretch for the new FX5?

If you’re looking for a hybrid, then none of those. I use the s5ii and s5iix at work. I don’t own those cameras (at home I have a c70 and r6 mkiii) so hopefully that eliminates any fanboy/shill accusations. I specifically chose for us to invest in the Lumix S series because the work I do is everythi

Joining the Club, please give tips (S5II)

Lumix S5ii manual Reddit S5ii Tips S5ii Setup and Settings Congrats! It’s a great camera. You just need to work your way thru it. I suggest you review each menu item, one at a time, and then go learn about it if you don’t understand it. Happy Shooting!

Holy Trinity Lenses

I actually think that the 24-105 f/4 lenses that most companies make get slept on. I use a 24-105 f/4 from Panasonic along with my Lumix S5ii as my standard corporate event setup. I use an on camera Canon EX flash that I pop a little extra light with. At corporate events, I have to get a lot of grou

Shoot horizontal & vertical?

I shoot wide and crop most of the time with my real estate clients. For any parts where they're talking on camera, I shoot in 6K Open Gate (Lumix S5iiX), which gives me plenty of options for cropping vertical or horizontal. For the b-roll, I shoot wide then crop. And honestly with how short the vert

I feel reluctant to buy more L mount glass

The honest answer is…the z8 and z9 are better cameras for the wildlife purpose. Albeit they are very large. My S5ii and Sigma 150-600 came to around 2.5k..that’s less than one Nikon Z8. So I’d expect it to be the better camera. The sigma 150-600 is a nice lens, the autofocus is slow though. The zoom

S5ii AF is rough

Here are my tips/what I do. My AF is tact sharp, around the 90% within Sony and Canon range. I also use the 24-70 S Pro, as well as the 70-200mm S Pro (f2.8), 16-35mm S Pro, and a bunch of LUMIX Prime lenses. Update to the latest firmware that released yesterday. Turn AF Detection Setting on. KEY PA

Would you rather have Autofocus or Internal ND's when filming weddings?

I would probably stray away from both cameras if I was going to shoot weddings. At the same price point, any of Lumix's line (S5II, S5IIX) would work really well. Maybe a used C70 or FX3 at the top end of your budget. An FX2 wouldn't be out of the question either. The Lumix series has the best inter
