Officially, they are part of Osprey's attachment system where you can attach other backpacks (like the Daylite or the Daylite Plus) using their buckles. I've done this on occasion and it works great, though the back does extend out a bit so you have to be careful in crowded places.

OneBagTravels on YouTube actually used packing peanuts to measure the volume of the Allpa 28L. He found that it was actually 33L (so more bang for your buck 😉). I agree, the REI seems to have better straps and more comfort. That Osprey looks solid. Honestly, I was really considering the Osprey Daylite 26+6 too, but I'm really not a fan of Osprey bags' appearance haha, it turns me away completely

I mean, the amount that each of these factors weighs in the decision making is dependent on subjective opinion. If you want an ugly bag thats perfect in every other way please do that! But I dont, or I would get the Osprey Daylite 26 lol
