I'm looking for a backpack that becomes two backpacks

Osprey farpoint with daypack I tried it and it's meant to nest with the buckles, but It's pretty bulky when packed full.

Anyone travel with a carry on?

10 years on the road with my wife, living out of two Osprey Farpoint 40L carry-ons. One each. This year, after a decade of wear and tear, we replaced them, with the exact same backpacks. That probably says everything. Traveling this way teaches you a simple rule: if something new comes in, something

Your bag is perfect except for "that one thing" - what is it?

I bought an Osprey Farpoint 55 instead of a Farpoint 40 specifically because the 55 doesn't have a laptop compartment.

Best Carry on Luggage in 2026

I love my Osprey Fairview/Farpoint 55. Best carry on bags ever. Walking through the airport hands-free is a fantastic experience. Also, most airlines never force check backpacks.

What’s the best travel backpack you’ve actually used and loved?

For flying, like the Osprey Farpoint (or Fairview - which my wife has). Shoulder straps, load lifters, and hip belts make them comfortable to carry across an airport or around town, and they have a zippered cover that keeps the harness bits under wraps when / if you simply want to carry the bags by

Backpack for travel/carr on too

Check out Osprey farpoint/fairview 40L. It’s a travel backpack so it also has a clamshell opening that’s easy to get stuff in/out of like a suitcase. The backpack straps are actually really comfortable so you can walk with your pack fully loaded for longer distances, up stairs, etc. It’s very resili

(need advice) Osprey Farpoint 40 vs Kestrel 38

The Farpoint is a travel pack. It is absolutely the wrong type of backpack for the Camino. I strongly advise against using it. Go with the Kestrel or explore other backpacks made for camping while walking distances ie backpacking backpacks. Look at the Osprey Exos 38 or something else by Osprey or G

How do you handle lots of weight on an achy back with a backpack?

This is all about overhead sized bags. Load transfer and under seat bags aren’t happening. Reduce the weight as much as possible! Get a pack with a load transferring harness that comes in various torso lengths or adjustable torso length for a proper fit. That will put 80% of the weight on your hips.

What’s the one bag you didn’t regret buying after real travel?

Osprey Farpoint 40, EXCEPT THE LAPTOP POCKET DOESN'T GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
