OM-1 Mark III Wish List

GPS for the love of God. The EOS 6D had it 14 years ago, the E-M1X had it in 2019. If they can fit it in the TG series, they can fit it in an OM-1.

Best bang for buck phase detect body?

To answer your title, the E-m1 mk II might be slightly more affordable than the E-m1x. I think it's the best bang for the buck. That said, considering your uses, I'd totally make the jump to an om-1 mk I or g9ii. Then it depends what lenses you own and many other factors

Unspoken benefit of the M43 sensor (Olympus)

I mean that's kind of the second big advantage of small sensors, it's not unspoken about. But it sure is nice. Olympus outdid themselves and also shot themselves in the foot when they released the E-M1 mark II in late 2016 with so much stuff packed in it. It was so good that people looked at the E-M

Finally forced into buying a new body, but stick with Olympus?

Well personally, I would not get an E-M10.4 simply because the autofocus is only contrast detection. You might be able to get decent results sometimes but it's a bit of a gamble. I would look towards phase detection bodies instead, which fortunately there are plenty. Some options to consider : - E-M

It's 'Post your M43 photo' Thursday! Come share your best work with the community!

if you want something with good AF on a budget, the E-M1 mark II should be pretty nice. Phase detection AF and everything, doesn't have subject detection but the zone focus modes (especially 5x5) work very well. Otherwise the cheapest with bird subject detection AF is the E-M1X or OM-1 (the OM-1 is

So, does this mean an MFT lens lineup revival?

I don’t think that’s likely. E-M1X was a bit of a bet that failed because non-M4/3 users had a hard time understanding why they would buy such a large camera if the sensor was still half the area of a full-frame body. Olympus did pack the extra space inside it with as many features as they could at

What do you recommend for an all around beginners camera focused on nature?

They’re mostly all the same. Just get whichever one you want and stick with it forever. I’d probably avoid the cheapest Canons and cheapest Sony’s. The Nikon 50-250mm is a very good lens considering what it is. They also have a cheap but also very good 12-28mm The cheapest Canons like the R100 nerf

Birding: Should I upgrade my setup or switch over to Nikon?

Im birding with my E-M1 II and switched to the OM-D from a Nikon D750. I really love my Olympus lenses and the E-M1 II and won’t go back to the bigger systems. I use 4/3rds lenses exclusively to trade them with my E-5. The Olympus 50-200 f2.8-3.5 with an MMF-3 and EC-14 converter is unbeatable for p

It's M43 Monday! Ask Us Anything about Micro Four-Thirds Photography - all questions welcome!

It's still a decent camera, but it hasn't gotten that many updates since it was an Olympus E-M5 Mk3, and that's what I would be looking for. Just looking it up now, used prices are crazy. So in this market it might be worth it to buy the new one. I see E-M1II's and E-M1x's for less than the E-M5 whi

Just a short reminder…

I agree, Olympus did a good job of keeping up or bettering FX bodies of the same time period, they are still decent now as you have said with a lot of features that newer FX bodies are still catching up with. Yes the OM-1 ii is a better body and the AF is very good as are all of the computational ex
