If you're tech saavy you can use ADB to install apps (because it's technically android 8.1) so you can install something like eink launcher and koreader to even bypass the nook UI and really just strip it down to basically ereader functionality. I use a Nook Glow Light 4 Plus like this. Just turn of

New devices confirmed for 2026
I’ve always loved Barnes & Noble and have owned almost every version of nook they’ve ever released. I would normally be very excited about this announcement. But if they don’t fix the software “problem” with the fonts I won’t be buying any more nooks. I have vision loss and haven’t been able to use

Coming back
If you’re looking to get away from Amazon because it’s Amazon, that’s one way to do it. (But you still won’t find the books from KU on Nook.) If you don’t like what Amazon is doing with locking down their ebooks, be aware that B&N has been doing that with their books since 2014. So you won’t be help

New NOOK Update Out
Stuff like this is why I haven't turned on Wi-Fi for over a year on my NOOK GlowLight 4 series, and why we keep older NOOKs around. What and who did it benefit, them removing Font Thickness? I cannot imagine that a font license removed Thicker or that the font now has a higher license for Thicker? H

Budget e-reader
I think one of the better current deals would be a refurbished Nook Glowlight 3 ($70), or Glowlight 4 ($100) or a Glowlight 4e ($70). The Glowlight 3 and 4 have "warm" light, the 4e just has regular light (and lower resolution). I personally think the Glowlight 3 has the best "warm" screen made. But

Nook vs Kobo for academics
I have a Glowlight 4 and a Clara Colour. This is my 3rd and final Nook. The hardware is nice, the software is awful. If you want color highlighting, that won’t be an option since there is no color model. It also doesn’t have a dark mode (inverted to white font on black background) which Kindle intro

Koreader friendly e-reader for Manga?
Nook Glow Light 4 Plus. It fits all your criteria except not being an android device as it uses a heavily modified version of android 8.1 but doesn't have the app store and requires a workaround to install apps but you can use that workaround (just google) to install KOReader as an apk. ngl if you d

General eReader Advice
Nook makes nice hardware. Having page turning buttons is nice. Screen quality on the Glowlight 4 Plus that I have is nice. The adjustable front lighting has been nice. After that is where Nook goes downhill as an e-ink reader. Their software is ANTIQUATED. You will not experience epubs like Apple Bo

Is it still worth it to get a Nook Glowlight 4 Teal in 2026?
If you like reading in night mode, you’ll be disappointed. I have the previous “limited edition” Glowlight 4 (the pink and white one) and rarely use it because of its lack of night mode. What they call “dark mode” is what others call warm light. Aside from that reading on it is fine (but yes a littl

Nook Glowlight 4 Plus?
My experience with the Nook GlowLight 4 Plus has definitely been mixed. It's my first e-reader that I was gifted last year and I love the way the screen looks and the overall finish of the device (back and front). The ability to change the warmth/birghtness of the light is great for night reading. T
