I could 100% see Nikon taking the Z7 and using it like they did the Z5II. Z5II is a photography centric Z6III Z7III would be a photography centric Z8

Upgrade Advice?
One thing to note: if you go from a D7200 (DX), to a Z6iii or Z8 (FX), you will lose 300mm of reach, which might be more of an effect than you're prepared to accept. Nikon Z6iii vs Z7ii for Macro & Portrait Photography
Knowing how powerful the Zf is, and with the Z6III, I was blown away by the features of the Z5II. I was certain that Nikon would limit it in some ways to create more of a gap between the 5II and the 6III. It didn’t make sense to make the gap between them so small.

Z6 III or Z8? I’m tired of staring at spec sheets and my bank account.
It’s not a shame, a Z6III with higher MP is essentially a Z7III, which is basically a Z8. I think Nikon will release a Z8II and a Z7III after (or at the same time)
