I have this machine and am currently saving to get the Mahlkönig X64 SD. It has mostly very positive reviews and I want a single dose grinder and have chosen this one after a long research. Also like the look.

I also have a BDB. My Mahlkonig x64 SD arrives Wednesday. It’s a single dose flat burr in your price range. Some in this sub have complained about having to make adjustments when it’s new, but the negative comments seemed overblown.

If your looking to upgrade from that machine, and your main drink truly is the espresso, I’d look into grinders first, and then use the remaining budget on the coffee machine.Since it seems, you only want to drink one coffee in the morning, I could recommend a single dose grinder. I just got this (X64-SD) and I’m obsessed. It’s amazing. Highly recommend. It’s also sexy as hell on the kitchen counter. (Great design) They also have the other new one (E64 WS) that measures while grinding that’s supposed to be incredible.

I upgraded from a Macap M7 to the Mahlköning X64 SD two months ago and it's really been good. Only bad thing I have to say about it that beans sometimes get hung up on the popcorning shield which is mildly annoying.
