Why does HDR look like garbage on MacOS unless you’re using the Pro Display XDR or newer MBP?

I connected my LG 27UP850 to my mbp M1 pro and found washed out UI under HDR mode, seems after so many years there is still no answer to fix this except buying the pro display :(
