Thanks to this sub just pulled the trigger on the M4 Mac mini. need honest advice on monitor + peripherals before I screw up.
I have the 27" LG 27GL83A I bought in 2022. It's connected to both my M1 Mac Mini and a PS5. It's a 1440p 144Hz gaming monitor and works great with the Mini. Text is clear and not blurry and it's running at 144Hz. I'm connected via DisplayPort (DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 3/USB-C adapter) to the Mini

Looking to buy 1440p 144-240hz (budget)
Yeah I would. Not the LG is bad by any means, it's just a few years older and the Asus is tuned a bit better. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/lg-27gl850-b-27gl83a-b-vs-asus-rog-strix-xg27acs/912/56501 You can compare them both directly here though and any of the other 1440p monitors aro

good 1440p monitor that isnt the most expensive?
I got an LG 27GS85Q the other day, to pair with my LG 27GL850 that I'm pretty sure they don't sell anymore. As far as I can tell, there's no difference between them, just a newer version of the same thing, slightly faster max framerate. Both great IPS monitors. Cost a third of what the previous one

Help with increasing # of monitors
As your dock features a Thunderbolt 4 connector, this can allow you to connect to an external GPU dock. r5 7600 or r7 7800x3d (gpu is 9070xt)
27" 144/160/180hz 2k(1440p) monitor is what i would go for. But note that i obviously have a bias because i myself am using a 27" 144hz 1440p monitor atm. Panel choices are TN/VA/IPS/OLED. TN allows for highest refresh rates, but kinda washed out colors. VA has deep blacks and high contrast, but suf

Nvidia finally acknowledged the Black Screen issues on RTX 5000 cards and is working on a fix
I have the problem with 2x 2560x1440 144 hz LG monitors GL83A / GL850 (G-SYNC compatible) with my new rtx 5070. As soon as I set the monitors to 144 hz and activate G-SYNC, I get 1-3 second long blackscreens. More often when I drag another window to the foreground and play in borderless window mode.

Is the LG 27GL850-B monitor worth it for $220 usd in 2025?
Yes. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl850-b-27gl83a-b But if its used ... maybe not.. But its a good quality monitor - if its not being used too much panel will last 5y more maybe.. (you see panels have 30 000 working hours or less - after that its going to break - lines might appear or
