I think I bought the wrong LCD for my X280
Well, that's not a 32 pin cable. The one you have is actually the 40 pin touch cable. That display you currently have is the FHD touch that uses a 40 pin with 0.4mm pitch. The new display uses a 30 pin cable with 0.5 mm pitch (a bit more separated). By comparing the 2 panels, the one you bought has

Modern alternatives to the 12" X series?
Same wagon here. I have moved from a X230 then to a X260 and since many years now I am on a X13 gen 1 as my daily driver and it has already started showing its age. Anyways, I miss the sturdiness of X260 it was really top and the 12" screen size was right on the sweet spot. Also from a keyboard stan

Need some guidance in buying my first 2nd hand ThinkPad.
As a fellow tech lover and ThinkPad enjoyer, this sounds like a fun little Franken‑laptop project. If you want something inexpensive but still very moddable, I’d look at older T or X series (T480/T490, X270/X280 tier) – they’re common in the refurb market, have plenty of parts available, and tons of

How can I buy a refurbished ThinkPad in India
I did my research just now on India and thought long and hard about my response. Here it is: Buying a refurbished ThinkPad (specifically T480/T490/P-series) in India is excellent for Linux, often found for ₹18,000–₹25,000. Reputable online vendors include Saudewala, NewJaisa, and Lestic. For Linux,

Display Recommendation for X280 (Similar to N140HCG-GQ2)
I bought this display from a local seller in India for the X280. There is no sticker, and Lenovo Diagnostics doesn’t show anything, but Linux edid-decode shows this. Hope this helps someone. So far, it’s superior and sharper compared to AUO

Looking for refurbished travel Thinkpad
X290/280 are gonna be nearly identical, if they both exist. They're both intel 8th gen systems and they're both 12/12.5-inch systems. They might even literally share a motherboard. X290 will use second-wave 8th gen CPUs, the ones with "5" at the end, otherwise they should perform identically. X390 w

Need help deciding on a second hand ThinkPad
I’d toss up between the T480s and X280, although I’m not sure what other specs they have (display would be my primary concern as the X280 has a much lower base resolution at only 768p.. Some older AMD SKUs may also fall into this margin, these might offer a decent performance point for your stated u

Thinkpad X280 screen mod: 13" 2160x1350 195PPI. Works ok but not in text mod (POST/BIOS)
Hey erparucca, thanks for the pics, interesting. But if you still haven't fixed the text mode problem, this display would't be an option for me, sadly. But I'm interested in the specs of it. Probem is, I can't load Panelook, because my OpenWRT router runs a VPN, which I can't disable by a click, and
