I mean I have cheaper laptops from 20yrs ago that still work. For $600 I would not buy a X1 Extreme Gen 2 (which is basically the same as my P1 Gen 2). You can go to BestBuy or whatever and buy a $600 brand new Lenovo laptop that isn't a Thinkpad that will spank the hell out of the X1E Gen 2. It won

Are p5x still reasonable to buy in 2026
better would be buyng a ThinkPad P1 Gen 2. Its the current thinkpad p series at its end of the 5 years corporate lifecycles... and no having 3 ssds is perfect.. if you are deep in Computer science and developing stuff that you wont want in the hands of a cloud provider. my p52 has a p3200 btw howeve

Not only is this wrong the laptop i have now ive had for 6 years because a beautiful trans woman picked it out for me
I'm a techy person so I actually spend time figuring out which is the best I can get for my money. How I came to have a ThinkPad P1 gen 2. Sure, the battery needs replacing, but this was one of my responsible purchases.

yes of course .. Lenovo doesn't start designing entirely new motherboards etc without a commitment to the product and price for the long haul. I just paid LESS for my P1 Gen 8 than I did for my P1 Gen 2 8 yrs ago.
