The Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 5 is the worst device I’ve ever owned.
Like, ThinkPads don't normally go bad, but it is a pain in the ass when they go. I had a P15 Gen 1, which as flawless. Sold and god an P1 Gen 2 with the 4k screen, and problems were constant. Battery life, was mediocre but that was the 4k OLED fault, but the major problem came in a way of BIOS updat

Worth it ? ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 | 4K OLED | 40GB RAM | 1TB SSD | Workstation
I mean I have cheaper laptops from 20yrs ago that still work. For $600 I would not buy a X1 Extreme Gen 2 (which is basically the same as my P1 Gen 2). You can go to BestBuy or whatever and buy a $600 brand new Lenovo laptop that isn't a Thinkpad that will spank the hell out of the X1E Gen 2. It won

White Cloudy Patch at right bottom of Lenovo P1 Gen 8
Then try to get it fixed by Lenovo. What do you expect Reddit to do? EDIT: Though very much YMMV. I have tried to get minor gripes with screens fixed first on my Dell XPS 15 9560, then my ThinkPad P1 Gen 2. It never really got solved. But it did take a lot of calling and service visits.

Thinkpad p1 buying advice.
I use a ThinkPad P1 Gen 2 with a 9th-generation i7, Quadro T2000 processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB M.2 SSD. It's like having a GTX 1650/1660; you can play some less demanding games. I personally use it for CAD and CAE, and it works great. I also do some rendering occasionally. It's never given me an

Switched from Fujitsu to a Lenovo P1, First Week Impressions
my OLED display is defective but while I've had it here for almost 2 months evaluating it, I found they forgot to remove the film from the thermal pad on the factory installed NVMe. My touchpad doesn't scroll like every other laptop at the store today including my Thinkpad P1 Gen 2, so its also most

ThinkPad P1 / T1g Gen 8 OLED Display Quality
The OLED screen also uses more battery. So if that isn't a concern and you will be at 50%+, the OLED might work well for you. I also keep my machines a long time. My P1 Gen 2 was new from Lenovo, so maybe its 8 years old now. I don't have faith the OLED screen will last that long.

Is lpcamm2 gonna survive if crucial stops exsisting?
yes of course .. Lenovo doesn't start designing entirely new motherboards etc without a commitment to the product and price for the long haul. I just paid LESS for my P1 Gen 8 than I did for my P1 Gen 2 8 yrs ago.
