Name the best 13" (or 14" honorable mention) with a 16:9 display you could live with in 2025 as a travel mate, for light duty surfing & content consumption
Personally, my favorite 16:9 laptop ever was a Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen3 AMD. It was great....5875u, 64gb ram, 2tb SSD, 400-nit low power display, 57wh battery. Could get over 8 hours on battery with a light load and reasonable brightness. Loved that thing.

Hot take: Lenovo should simplify the Thinkpad line
I can't speak to the whole history of the L series necessarily but the R series used to be almost exactly that. Right down to, lots of T/R models literally shared part numbers for their motherboards, and the differences were in what configurations you could get. With Lenovo really shifting the T ser

Thoughts on this laptop as a development machine?
I have a worse laptop for .NET development, works fine.32 gigs of ram feels on the small side for that price. I also prefer AMD, I think you get a little more bang for your buck. And get the smallest laptop for portability... when you're at home or at your office you should generally be on a docking

Jack of all trades laptop
A used ThinkPad will do right by you. A couple years ago I had a $500 budget for a laptop and I went with a refurbished L14 Gen 3 with 512gb storage / 16gb memory from Lenovo’s refurbished website. You also may be able to find a used MacBook Air M1 for around that price.

Please help me pick new Laptop (pls ignore the Dell laptop it doesn’t belong to this group 😂)
kinda feel you on the ram worry. for mechanical engineering and 5 years i’d push for 32gb if possible. under 1000 look at the Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 with ryzen 7 and upgradeable ram. also the Acer Swift Edge 16 sometimes drops to 950 with 32gb soldered. most companies do provide a work laptop so

Is this a good deal?
The sale is basically pot luck. With that chipset they could be supplying a T480, T490, or an L390. It's not a bad price, depending on what you got, but that's the unknown. I had a look on eBay UK and if £200 is your limit, I found a private sale for an E14 G2 AMD Ryzen 5 16GB (8GB + 8GB), 256GB, 10

Help with consideration
Gotcha, so that's roughly what I suspected with 12th gen. Those chips are just on the inner edge of four years old and so globally especially they aren't quite at the mass selloff and leases ending phase. Just as a heads up, based on some things you are now saying: ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 (Intel) has hal

T14s Gen 2 - Was this a good deal?
And Ryzen 5000 counts as 1 "generation". Forgive me for not being so far up Lenovo's ass to know that only the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 came with the 5500u and not the other Gen 2 thinkpads. Douchebag. Still, he's stuck with 16GB RAM forever, that's a much bigger problem. The iGPU will also require some r

Thinkpad P16s gen2 Fury road. F you qualcomm
not really. it's just funny how thinkpad fanboys will buy every single red nipple laptops. That's how they are able to put out shit like Celeron or atom laptops lmao I have a 2020 MacBook pro m1, my classmate had a 2020 thinkpad L14/E14(don't remember), and my other one had a 2018 elitebook 735 G5.
