Name the best 13" (or 14" honorable mention) with a 16:9 display you could live with in 2025 as a travel mate, for light duty surfing & content consumption
Personally, my favorite 16:9 laptop ever was a Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen3 AMD. It was great....5875u, 64gb ram, 2tb SSD, 400-nit low power display, 57wh battery. Could get over 8 hours on battery with a light load and reasonable brightness. Loved that thing.

Thinkpad l14 gen 4 or t14 gen 2
The T14 offers a more rugged build, a brighter, better stock display, and Thunderbolt support permitting the connection of an external GPU. The L14 G4 trades a weaker dimmer display, and cheaper build, for a more powerful chipset with much stronger graphics, dual open RAM slots (up to 64GB), and a t

L14 AMD (Ryzen 5 4650U) vs T14 Intel (i7, 32GB RAM) for Linux dev?
Even with RAM and storage, $510 is expensive for a T14 G1, both T14, and L14 G1 are 6 years old. If the T14 still appealed, I'd want to know the age and health of the 1TB NVMe, as it could also be 6 years old, and heavily worn. Avoid if either has a 1366x768 TN display. I'd favor spending less on an

Is the Thinkpad L14 gen 4(ryzen 3 pro 7330u) good?
Excellent price. Faster and more powerful than any T480 set up, and you retain modular dual RAM slots, and a replaceable WiFi card. If 8GB RAM is installed, adding an 8GB, or better, 16GB DDR4-3200 stick is a worthwhile upgrade, especially with Windows 11. Hopefully it's fitted with at least a 250 n

Thoughts on this laptop as a development machine?
I have a worse laptop for .NET development, works fine.32 gigs of ram feels on the small side for that price. I also prefer AMD, I think you get a little more bang for your buck. And get the smallest laptop for portability... when you're at home or at your office you should generally be on a docking

E14 Ryzen 5 7530U For €250
For that price, I think it's an OK deal: Spec-wise that E14 gen5 AMD (2024) roughly comparable with T14 gen2 AMD (2021) or L14 gen3 AMD). E14 gen5 AMD also comes either with 47wh or 57wh battery vs 50wh (T14 gen2 AMD). It should last at least 5 hours (or 5.5 hours) or more in lighter office apps and

Thoughts on the thinkpad L14 gen 1
I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L14 14″ AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U 1.70GHz 32GB 500GB for 240 euros recently. It's amongst the cheapest I could find. Don't know your use case. I was coming from a macboo kpro 15" 16gb ram late 2017 and it has been a massive massive upgrade. First thing I did was install linux

Thinkpad E14 gen 3 or T14 gen 1?
Welcome. L14 G1 AMD specs, L14 G2 AMD specs. Just avoid any L14 models with Ryzen 3 chipsets or TN displays. The AMD 5000 series in the T14/L14 G2, saw an upgrade in graphics capabilities, but G1 and G2 are both capable of light gaming.
