Mara X - is this what I need? [$1900]

What makes you think the Appartamento will be much better? Heat exchangers are heat exchangers. With your one milky per day and preference for mid 1900’s look, consider a la pavoni europiccola

Colored bases

Thanks for your input. I think I saw your latest recolour somewhere online. With powdercoaring, my thoughts were that the powder coat colours might be more limited or not mixable. Then also the number of corrosion inhibiting primers could be a limitation. I was thinking of going in 2 different direc

Espresso machines… what’s your weapon of choice and why’s it unbeatable?

La Pavoni Europiccola. The machine will outlive you, and the routine maintenance can be done with a 10mm wrench and a flat head screwdriver. Rewards consistency. Is basically a piece of art on the counter.

Rate my set up as a 7 y/o

Ya the basket is nice but way too big imo. I bought a bottomless portafilter traveling through Italy last month when I had a Europiccola with me but forgot the portafilter at home. They told me it came without basket and gave me a very nice one that looks like yours - only it is too big, I think. I

Budget beginner setup: girlfriend doesn’t want a Breville. Now what? [€1000,- ish max]

Tier 1 (Cheap): Dedica or Bambino Tier 2 (Best value for money): Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia Optional tier: Cafelat Robot, Flair, La Pavoni Europiccola/Professional Honestly a La Pavoni lever machine would fit that kitchen perfectly

Frustrated with finding a first machine [400]

I think you’re probably right between these two. I like the idea of manual but having to also get a kettle and steamer makes it way too many appliances. La pavoni seems really cool and the europiccola has a boiler and steam wand but probably too sensitive for a beginner. Also it being difficult to p

I see your 11 year not upgraded station, and raise you this 30+ year Miss Betsy. AMA

For those interested, this is really tiny, same size/footprint as my Olympia Cremina lever, it's about 2/3 to 3/4 size of the Silvia. I have the manual for it and it's called Caffe Sienna on the cover of the manual, alas, I've found zero info on the internet about the model under that name, but I re

Europiccola for daily coffee?

I've had mine since 2006 and used daily except for a period of about four years when I bought a Rancilio Silvia. Yes the Silvia was faster, easier and more consistent, but I missed the beauty of the process, simplicity of design and the double-boiler Rancilio always felt like I had a washing machine

Does the Robot actually make better coffee?

I've used a La Pavoni Europiccola for the last 10 years, and it's a wonderful lever machine but it requires a lot of technique to master pulling shots, and also requires periodic maintenance (I replaced all the gaskets on it a few years ago, which put it out of action for a few weeks). I recently pu
