KRK G4 studio monitors stopped powering on, capacitor replacement fix

Old post, but anyone interested: I've had mine for 2 yr and 9 months. One literally just did exactly as the original poster. Yamaha HS8 with 8 years of use or a newer used KRK Rokit 7? I’m unsure which one to choose.

They both look like they’re in piss poor condition. If you’re gonna go KRK, go higher than Rokit that line is shit. Get the VX8. If you’re gonna go HS8, get a pair that’s not covered in stickers and clearly on its last breath.

I have had the older Rokit 5 series for over a decade and they work great, but users of newer models reported this problem, and it's quite ugly: it's a glue us
