If you're not concerned with accuracy, then you don't need to go with studio monitors, but not all of them are truly flat. I have the KRK 7" G4 and looking to add the 10 G4 subwoofer, but if I was just DJing I'd buy a pair of Mackie Thump Go plus their 8" sub. At least those would double up as porta

If you're only playing in a living room, then I'd go with studio monitors. Honestly, unless it's a pretty large room, 5 or 7 inch monitors are probably fine. If you are worried about "thump" then consider adding a sub. I use a set KRK Rokit 7 G4 for home playing and I'm happy with them. Think I twea

Capacitors are through the board and soldering is easy compared to other surface mount components. Buy new ones at mouser farad rating must be same voltage and temp rating higher is better if the board has enough space get a higher voltage rated one. Low esr ones are better. Caps have a line on them

Rokit 7 g5’s. KRK’s have come a long way, the G4 was almost perfect but had too much hiss. G5’s are awesome. Would get Kali if I had to choose today, I think. But I mostly use them for listening so I just want them to sound good and give me a good musical experience and I feel like my Rokit G5’s hav

I have a pair of KRK Rokit 7's but I often end up using headphones (Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro) to mix on. This is mainly because my studio space is really awkward and treating it would be very difficult (and probably very expensive!). I've taken mixes I've done to my mate's studio which is really nicel

Yeah, I think I have the 8010a's. They're boxed up somewhere - I had them in my studio room many moons ago. They weren't the best listening speakers. Come to think of it, I remember somebody I knew had KRK Rokit 7's with a sub, and they were pretty meaty in a small room... I'd almost forgotten these

Old post, but anyone interested: I've had mine for 2 yr and 9 months. One literally just did exactly as the original poster. Worked in the AM, went to work, came home, and it's not working, has a faint white flashing on the LSD. Checked fuse, no issue. I find this odd, since the warranty is 3 years

I had a pair of Rokit 5 G4 but there was not enough bass to satisfy me. Got a KRK S8 subwoofer to go with it but it was just a bit off, the sub was too powerful and the monitors were underpowered IMO. Got rid of them all in the end and settled on the Rokit 7 G5 and they are thumping. Would say I’m 9

Hell yeah! I went from using a JVM half stack, lugging that bastard around the country for years playing shows, to a powered kemper and then finally an FM9. I've always used a poweramp (the kemper) with the FM9, and ran through a real cab but recently after hearing myself in a decent studio that had
