RIP Kindle Oasis - What's next?
There are a few Android eInk devices that are very similar to the 7’’ Oasis 2 and 3 in size and shape - Boox Go 7 for example, but there are others. They won’t have the battery life of good dedicated e-readers (Kindle, Kobo, PocketBook) but offer all sorts of flexibility. (And battery life isn’t as

Kobo Clara BW vs Kindle Paperwhite; Which is better for offline/sideloaded reading?
Hm yes 6 inches vs 7, for 7" you'd need to go for the Kobo Libra Colour. It has buttons, automatic rotation and color screen but downsides are color screen tend to be darker (with current technology) and is more expensive.

Amazon’s new color Kindle Scribe launches on December 10th
Not my experience at all. You cannot ask a full featured Android tablet to have a battery life as long as a very limited ereader. My Boox Go color 7 gen 2 has a better battery life than my husband’s Kobo Sage which is abysmal. It has about the same battery life than a Kobo Libra Colour. Of course if

My partner wants an e-reader for Christmas, and I don’t know anything about it.
An onyx boox. For manga, you can manage on 8". You may want to consider color. But this will reduce the contrast of fonts when reading novels. A non-color is better for novel reading. And get a case. Edit. Just saw your budget. At that price point, an onyx is a no. Kobo is your next best bet. Open b

Pocketbook Era color after a week or so
There definetly are issues regarding the speed of PocketBooks and the reactivity of features (so how the device reacty to inputs). Even the blank page issue is something I experienced on (and only on) my Era, but whatever I changed in my own handling of the device, I did not appear again. So whateve

I own a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and bought a Kobo Clara BW (review)
I believe that’s the pricing difference where you are. In the US, the Kobo Libra Colour is currently $229, and the Kindle Colorsoft is $249. And yes, multiple sources say the Colorsoft is a Paperwhite Signature with an extra screen. There are some battery and clarity tradeoffs, but the basic device
