Need an E-Reader but not break the bank
You’re Canadian? Kobo is in Toronto. Just a note. But more importantly, the devices are repairable and well built, plus the policies are pretty user-friendly. (Price matching, returns, downloadable for backup, etc.) I’d only avoid Kobo if you routinely switch between devices (phones/ereaders/tablets

best non-kindle ereaders?
Kobo is your best bet! I have the Clara BW and the Libra Color. The Clara is very portable, I always take it out the house with me. The BW definitely has more contrast and is more clear compared to the color e-ink screen. I notice the difference but it's never bothered me or affected my reading expe

What type of ereader should I get?
Kobo Clara BW is the simplest answer imo. It's a good device, very portable, waterproof, has warm light, and is integrated with Libby. You're correct that you can't use Libby with Kindle outside of the US.

I just want to read
I'd recommend the Kobo Clara BW! Honestly it's not that small. It's worth looking into Pocketbook too 👀

Long time e-reader user. I’m disappointed with a modern device
From what I’ve read is that Pocketbook is sub subpar compared to Kobo and Boox. I would be very careful drawing such drastic conclusions that modern e-readers are worse than older ones based on your two only ereaders… I have Kobos (Libra Colour, Clara B&W and Elipsa 2E) and all of them are snappy an

Kindle vs Kobo
Whatever you get, if you don't often read comics, get a black and white device, because the screen will be crisper and the contrast more pronounced. Color devices are greyish. I would go for a Kobo Clara BW if you like the size. If you are looking for something bigger, there doesn't seem to be a cle

Can you borrow e books from the Winnipeg library e readers?
I have a Kobo (specifically the Clara HD model, the closest equivalent to what they currently sell would be Clara BW). I’ve had it for YEARS, and I love it. The battery lasts forever , it’s a great size (small enough to fit tucked in a purse for travelling), and yes much better than reading from you

2 readers?
I have a Kobo Clara BW and then bought an X4 out of curiosity. I ended up using the X4 more often because I enjoy its size a lot more. Plus it's easy enough to turn on a lamp and read in the dark. Recently, however, I've had to spend time with my mom at the hospital, and I brought the Clara because

What's the best simple book focused e-reader (not Kindle)
Get a kobo Clara bw. The system is easy to use, you can add a library card number for the overdrive feature and read library books on it, and the screen quality is better than the colour one imo. Also it is nice and small and portable. Mine is always in my purse.
