Bitter Sweet

I'm pretty miffed about Amazon sending my OG Paperwhite to pasture. It has some significant sentimental value, and going down the sideloading path just changes the experience. What's a good non-Amazon e-reader nowadays?

it's the end of an era

No, as a person who almost exclusively reads books through Libby, our old kindles are bricked. I was furious about this and did a bunch of research to figure out which newer kindle would piss me off the least. I ended up getting a secondhand 2018 paperwhite and I like it enough, though it’s not my 2

Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?

It's a few things: I really, really like page turn buttons. I understand having a touchscreen on these devices, but when the vast majority of your time is going forwards or backwards, in a book, why wouldn't you have buttons for that? So I have an immediate bend against devices that don't have them.

Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Clara BW?

I see you decided on a Kindle Paperwhite, but I just upgraded from an Oasis 2 (battery lasted about 4 hours) to a Clara BW, so thought id add my thoughts as it might help someone in the future. I like to take my e-reader with me often, so pocketabaility was important, I also use wide margins to keep

Kubo or Kindle?

I traded my kindle PW for a Kobo Libra Color last year and will never own another Kindle. I also tried a Boox reader when deciding and returned it and kept the Kobo Libra Color. Absolutely love everything about my Kobo. Amazon is so anti competitor that they have become anti consumer with their erea

Boox Go 7 II vs Musnap Ocean e-readers?

I recently bought and returned a Boox Go 7 BW in hopes to have something beyond just my Kindle Paperwhite mainly because the battery was terrible, the buttons were loose, and it felt like some text on the screen didn't look that sharp. My Amazon had a 35% discount on the BW Ocean so I snagged it for

Need your opinions, handsome people that you all are.

The Kobo Libra Colour is a solid choice, especially for manga compared to a Kindle Paperwhite. The bigger screen and color will definitely improve the experience, but keep in mind that color e-ink is still a bit muted compared to tablets. If manga is your main focus, you might also want to look at s

Questions:

From their site, shipping takes about 2 weeks. 2 days through Amazon. You don't have access to the same accessories usually, but I got a case on Amazon that I like more than the official magnetic case. I personally don't have buyers remorse a single bit. I ended up loving the X4 way more than I thou

Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Clara BW?

You know, actually no. Sideloading books on kindle is not that hard currently but Amazon does keep making it harder and harder. E.g. I had to jailbreak my kindle because I repeatedly kept getting errors while trying to send ePUBs via "send to kindle" email service. Other people were facing similar i
