What can I do to keep myself entertained while on sick leave?
Is there a way you could buy yourself a full priced or refurbished / second hand e-reader that mimics paper like the Kindle Paperwhite ? With e-readers you can enlarge text, change font and also make it bolder. Edit: if you can read on your phone there’s also the Kindle app that you can get on your

Xennials who were once bookworms; do you still read as much as you did as a kid?
I’ve been doing audiobooks for the last decade while commuting and before I fall asleep. I started reading on my phone. I liked that I could read without dragging a book around. I just got a Kindle Paperwhite. I read mostly in the dark before bed and it has dark mode and warm light. It is also not b

My anxiety is sky high!
Take lots of nice hot showers, go for long walks, drink tea, find a book series, and then a genre, and read every night with a cozy blanket and pillows. If you have vision or mobility problems, a Kindle paperwhite might make it easier to read. If you can comfortably do so, adopt a cat. Consider hous

What are we using ???
A Kindle Paperwhite 😉 They really are perfect for reading in bed and not disturbing your bed partner, and gentle on your eyes.

Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?
It's a few things: I really, really like page turn buttons. I understand having a touchscreen on these devices, but when the vast majority of your time is going forwards or backwards, in a book, why wouldn't you have buttons for that? So I have an immediate bend against devices that don't have them.

Kindle Paperwhite vs Kobo Libra Colour — which would you keep? 😭
i've been here before and honestly if the screen grain bothers you now it's not gonna stop bothering you. for novels that crisp paperwhite screen is just easier on the eyes over time. the buttons are nice but you can get a case with a grip or a popsocket to mimic that feel. sounds like you're more a

eReaders for fanfiction
I have never seen an ereader than can't be used for fanfiction. I had a kindle paperwhite for years but last year I bought a kobo. I like the kobo better but that more has to do with me not liking Amazon than the reader itself. I've had a LOT of fanfics loaded on both my kindle and my kobo. I use Ca

Kindle vs book in hand
My kindle changed my lifeeeee!!!!! I was anti kindle for a long time because I love the feel and smell of real books but now I’m exclusively a kindle reader. They’re so much more portable, I love being able to change the font size & night mode. I love highlighting passages on my kindle to go back to

Nobody prepares you for this.. one day you wake up a bit tired and it stays that way.. forever.
Oh for sure. In 2023, my husband bought me a Kindle paperwhite after a big accident and injury that left me non-weight bearing for over three months. It doesn’t have the blue light situation our phones have and was such a game changer for my reading.
