JBL and audiophiles
It depends on the ERA and the model. The current JBL M2 is undeniably excellent. Some of us love our Circa 1980s white woofers. I now use JBL 708p monitors and could afford most anything.

Worthy upgrade…
I had some Shape 65's for years and they were great to mix on, definitely needed a sub though. Upgraded to JBL 708p's.

Moving back from actives Kef LS60s to Clarity 6.2
Will they move to another room, go into storage or out to resell? I'm reasonably happy with my JBL 708P - but they require a sub.

Advice requested for a Difficult / Reflective Room with a low shelf
Are we putting the cart before the horse? Modern controlled directivity designs might not have much trouble with that ledge. I would be more concerned about choosing an appropriate LF driver for the space. Most of the "problematic" rooms I've encountered were just overloaded below 1000 Hz. □□□□□ Rat

Going down the hifi rabbit hole
Given that you've got a dac that can do PEQ and currently run JBLs with waveguide loaded compression drivers, may I suggest a pair of JBL 705i studio monitors. Both the compression drive and woofer are several steps up from the components in your 530s. The larger version is the 708i. If you set aler

Are studio monitors bad for casual listening?
I use a pair of JBL 708p's on iso-acoustic stands in a near field setup. They are pretty great ;-)

What tweeter technologies have the lowest distortion and smoothest frequency response? For the sake of discussion, let's say in the range of 3 kHz to 20 kHz.
The JBL 7 series and their M2 both use compression drivers. That fact alone prevented me for looking at them seriously when they were announced. Then I heard the M2 at the AES convention a decade ago. It was (and remains) the single best sounding loudspeaker I have ever heard. I ended up buying thre

For Mixing?
Pros love these. If they sound good to you, grab them. Honorable mentions: jbl 705p and 708p though I’ve heard they have driver failures if they’re placed at the wrong angle. Anyone else hear this?

I use mine for hifi listening too, thought JBL pro audio would have insane value for that. The 705P is great, surprised to hear the 708P has the typical 2 way muddy mids when run fullrange. I haven't used mine much as there are other better hifi at home. Guess I should use them with subs before deci
