Try the HHKB Studio. Or one of the TEX boards. Edit: I love getting downvotes for suggesting reasonable (and significant improvements) replacements for Lenovo’s old offerings. Is it a price issue? Good keyboards cost money.

There's no objectively correct answer here, but chances are that you became interested in the HHKB because of Topre. If you're primarily after the layout, there are cheaper ways to try it out. That said, I also picked up the Studio (after a Pro 2 and a Hybrid), and I love it.

The Topre HHKB Studio is the real endgame, lol. I felt the same at first, but once you give it enough time, it just clicks. No surprise it’s the endgame for a lot of MX users. Enjoy typing haha

The newer HHKBs (classic/hybrid) have much better build quality than older generations and the hybrid can be easily reprogrammed. The classic can be reprogrammed as well but not straight out of the box. If you want a more quiet experience go for the type-S. If you are open to buying used modded HHKB

The classic and hybrid are good. My hybrid type S still has it's daily driver carrying case. But I'm not convinced I'd ever want a studio. I'm not sure what I'm really getting for the price. I was never a fan since its debut. For that price you can get a Tex Yoda or Tex Yoda II, which is a much more

TEX keyboards such as the Shinobi are probably a better choice anyway besides being cheaper, as the HHKB Studio is the weird non-Topre black sheep of the lineup. That said, if the Studio had Topre, the premium may have been worth it.

Having tried both hybrid pro s and studio I prefer studio There’s of cuz something special about topre with that cushioned end but I don’t miss it, hhkb silent Mx is awkwardly good
